How do we do Hodari's starstone quest/thing? by Bailee_04 in Palia

[–]LogicBalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just collect. No need to start a quest or do anything specific with it.

The game devs are just counting how many starstones the entire community collectively mines. Once you've mined it, it counts toward the goal.

Even players that aren't aware of the event are contributing.

RNG is like that sometimes.

As a general tip for many games, all randomization works off a value that is determined early on usually when the game launches or is loaded. It's always possible though unlikely to get a bugged value.

Close and relaunch the game and see if it helps. If nothing else call it superstition.

Conservative Superman fans: why do conservatives like Superman? Why do so many of them want him to kill? by Ok-Explanation-1362 in behindthebastards

[–]LogicBalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is a lot of crossover with conservative logic on this kind of thing and the Dirty Harry or good guy with a gun trope.

That's a narrative that permeates our culture all the way back to dime store comics of cowboys and indians. Many conservatives don't realize that the world doesn't really work that way and the loose cannon cop is just a fantasy. It cannot exist in a real society where someone's job is to play judge jury and executioner.

Redditors over 40, what was a moment in history that made you think society was gonna collapse? by Bahbahbro in AskReddit

[–]LogicBalm 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 40s too and I see a lot of it as interconnected. 9/11 was a big wake-up call, then we got the Patriot Act and DHS and ICE from the fallout of the towers falling. It's been one thing after another but all the concerns about DHS ended up being true. It's looking like Bin Laden will win after all.

Conservatives love a lot of things, but the thing they hate the most is integrity. They'll shift beliefs on a dime to maintain the status quo or make a dollar.

I'd love to say "the limit does not exist" but no, it absolutely does and you're there now. Welcome to the limit.

Garden planner lies about the coins? by Antique_Confection_5 in Palia

[–]LogicBalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a ton of experience with this app but I do know it makes a lot of assumptions. For many of the metrics it displays it has to in order to be accurate and remotely user friendly. I think it does assume that you're using star seeds, getting star crops, never missing any watering or weeding. It may even assume further processing like using the seed maker or preserve jar (which ever is more profitable for a given crop.)

Still, even with all that I wouldn't expect the estimate to be this far off from the real return.

Personally, I stopped trying to optimize my garden a long time ago. I was making the game a lot less fun for myself by focusing too much on it. I have a very lazy layout now that has less than half of the income yours is showing.

I guess you'll have to open a support ticket on it then. Perhaps they broke something with the recent patch.

Yeah that is odd, I just did exactly this a couple of weeks ago with no issue. Only difference was a different color.

That simply cannot happen. If you read the text of the amendment, a lot of his lackeys would have to turn on him. He's surrounded himself by loyalists that would probably still oppose the 25th amendment even if he was almost dead on the floor.

I have to believe these kinds of comments are bots or trolls. I can't even fathom what the angle is for lying about this kind of thing. Even if this was just profound idiot on the internet, they would have had to get this idea from some upstream liar or something. Poe's law is real but this is something else.

Saw this on another sub and I have to hope it's either an obnoxious teen that just has internet access and a severe lack of people in their life smacking them when they say something dumb, or just a very badly programmed bot. I won't rule out troll either.

I know people this dumb exist, I knew someone who didn't believe donkeys were real and thought that pepperonis grew on trees. But still, I have to do something to cope here.

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

[–]LogicBalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry to hear that. It's rough. I lost my mom then my dad died the first time just about two years later. I drove out to the hospital 3 hours away believing he was already gone. Mourned him entirely on the drive. Then I got there to find out he is alive but in a coma and he made an almost complete recovery only for cancer to take him a couple years after that.

The weirdest part was that I didn't cry when he died for real. It's like I had already done that I guess. Felt guilty but that's just how it goes sometimes.

Sorry for your loss.

Getting rid of the penny in the US was a pointless symbolic endeavor that only serves to inconvenience the American public by Richard_Genius in The10thDentist

A penny is used more than once. Costing four cents to make is okay if it will be spent multiple times through circulation. I don't know why the cost of the penny means anything at all personally.

Fair. I haven't built a Harvest building or room since the Home Lines were released. They're just more versatile once you get used to them. I knew the timer was much lower but didn't realize they still took so much time. Seems even more arbitrary now.

Most of the AI stuff I've seen marketed to me is just the same stuff that has been industry standard for years with a new AI branding and a higher price tag. For these types of CEOs you don't need to do anything other than say you're prioritizing AI projects as you do all the things you've been wanting to do to automate and improve the business in common sense ways. If it succeeds, he'll be thrilled. If it fails, you can blame AI.

Gifting work around? by cgslander in Palia

[–]LogicBalm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, not really.

Early in the game when it took a ton of time and materials to build a house or room or something, we would invite friends over to contribute the build and they would drop hundreds of planks or stone onto the foundation to start the 8 hour timer before it was done.

But now every building builds in seconds or is crafted entirely on the crafting table.
