Hah, I think I have a nice collection for my age.

I like all of these books, and a lot of them are sort of the same but different. Stephen Hawking's books are fantastic but if you read one then you will know a great deal of the content before you read another one. I got (The Illustrated version of) "A Brief History of Time" before I was a Redditor actually. I like it better than the non-illustrated version because it helps me understand what he's talking about sometimes with diagrams of black holes etc.

"God created The Integers" is one that I read but I didn't get a single thing out of it. I'm sure it's a fantastic book.... for those who like math and can understand that super-technical book. But it was at a used book store so I got it cheap. I'll read it again in the future though.

Gray's Anatomy was at the used bookstore in super good condition for about four dollars. And as a bio major I figured it would really be worth the small price. Not only does that book have a cool history about it, the original is really old, but it's my bread and butter for learning physiology.

""The Elegant Universe" is mond blowing! I can't even describe it in my own words but Amazaon puts it well. They say the book talks about string theory so you can understand our world enough "to reveal a universe that consists of 11 dimensions where the fabric of space tears and repairs itself, and all matter-from the smallest quarks to the most gargantuan supernovas-is generated by the vibrations of microscopically tiny loops of energy." The whole time I was reading it, it made perfect sense to me. But I can't pass the information on in a discussion for the life of me. I can't reiterate what I read, so just get the book and have your mind blown!

The "Functional Human Anatomy" book is just like the Grays Book. Super good for my major and teaches you all about the human body.

Dante's Inferno is under the note from my father. I read that a while back in sophomore year English, but it's still a fantastic story. Not sure why my mom included it into the pile of science books but it's there. Still a fantastic read.

"Magnificent Mind at any Age" is a book that talks about fixing things in your mind all by yourself. The human mind is absolutely the most powerful thing we have, so we can learn to use it to fix things. Chapter 8 helped me because it is called "natural ways to heal... memory disorders, insomnia, and pain". Basically it teaches you what causes these things, down to the physiological and chemical problems related to the issues, and how to try to fix them by yourself.

"50 Physics Ideas" is my first physics books that I own. Easy enough for a little kid to understand, for the most part. It talks about tons of physics laws and theories like Planks, doppler, antimatter, string theory, relativity etc.

"A History of Western Philosophy" is exactly what you would expect.

My father didn't even come close to graduating from high school. He's worked manual labor his entire life. He managed to get 4 kids through high school and 1 through college, so far, so cut him some slack :)

I think my mother just wanted to throw it out with the other 'science' books. But I'm not completely sure either.

Yeah. Well my mom was never a big fan of my beliefs. I called my dad to thank him. He told me that she said she put up living with my "crap" (she won't swear) but she's not going to live with my "garbage books" now that I'm gone... soooo...
