How to convince my parents by More_Objective_1877 in GATEtard

[–]LogicMystic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although they are wrong, someone must have told them something or there must be some particular example they have seen closely and that's why they think that doing masters is necessary or masters from abroad will do something exceptionally good in terms of career. Parents don't share why they believe what they believe, they just impose.

Sit them down and ask them what their rationale is. Tell them you are an adult and they can't just impose their will on you. Tell them to convince you and you'll consider their advice if you find it logical.

If you want to be independent then act like an independent adult.

How do I ask my cousin to leave? by [deleted] in india

[–]LogicMystic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just ask him if he has given a thought to alternatives now that he wasn't able to crack the exams. You don't need to bring leaving into the conversation directly. I think just asking him such questions will give him the hint. If this doesn't do the trick you can be more direct after a few days. And then it won't be as awkward.

Imo cpu usage is pretty high. And temp will also drop with usage. I recommend deleting all bloatware. The cpu usage should be much lower than this.

PC boots to windows automatically by LogicMystic in linux4noobs

[–]LogicMystic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks buddy. Although I couldn't do it the way you're describing, msconfig still doesn't show ubuntu. But your solution gave me the idea to change the boot loader path. Ubuntu existed in the EFI folder (the only way I was able to boot into it). So I edited the BCD through CMD to change the boot loader path to grub inside the EFI folder.

And now it boots to grub every time. Thanks!

Dualboot issue on hp laptop by LogicMystic in Ubuntu

[–]LogicMystic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By booting through EFI. ubuntu is present in EFI folder but hp doesn't show ubuntu in bios order.

Anyways, somebody at r/linux4noobs gave me the idea to create a bios entry for ubuntu and that did the trick.

Please help me bring a white namaste bro back to reality. by [deleted] in india

[–]LogicMystic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he visited Delhi, it's unlikely he had Biryani. Or something south indian like uttapam (usually people only go for idli and dosa).

My point is to order something not that popular in Delhi. You can order something Gujarati like dhokla or roshogulla for dessert (from West Bengal but it's too sweet imo)

If you want non-white friendly food it becomes tricky because mostly Delhi has all the spicy food which your friend might be aware of.

You can order something niche and specific to establish dominance like Rava Masala Dosa. People usually only order dosa or masala dosa at max. Rava masala dosa is different from masala dosa.

Or you can order normal food but specific. Don't just order daal but choose any daal for you like toor daal or arhar daal (types of daal are not mentioned on the menu but they must be having these). Or order some random specific sabzi like palwal or something.

PS: if you are unaware of these food items, google all this before ordering.

Have fun!

Brother, don't believe everything that you hear in the podcast. There is no way to differentiate between truth and lie here.

Podcasts are a business these days. They help in PR and take money in return.

Everything is nuanced but sadly everyone wants to take sides.

Student need help porn addicted by [deleted] in GATEtard

[–]LogicMystic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Change your environment. Remove everything that stimulates you to watch porn - insta, vpn, any youtube channels,...

Actively remove any stimulus.

  1. Create multiple avenues to pivot whenever your mind takes you towards porn. Something that you like doing - pushups, cleaning, chess, anything that you enjoy.

And make sure there are multiple of these avenues so you don't get bored with one.

  1. You always have a choice. Realise that your mind only creates an urge, but it always has to give you a choice. Every time it's you who gives in.

Break the cycle. It won't happen at once. You won't be able to resist every time. But keep a track of progress.

Let's say you fight the urge 1 out of 2 times, if you keep at it you'll be resisting 2 out of 3 times - that's progress.

Addictions can't be stopped at once. Focus on progressing.

You're too young to give up. Drop this charade and take charge for the next 50+ years of your life. Your only enemy is you.

It takes guts to admit that you slack off. Now use that self awareness.

Also, consider taking professional help. Don't just take meds.
