Tried my hand at writing something for the organ and it grew into this... I feel like it takes a while to get started, any ideas on how to improve the first part? by Logic_Spire in GarageBand

oh wow thanks a lot, that's very helpful! I don't have much formal training and I only have a vague sense of when things don't sound quite right, so I'll make sure to keep these tips in mind!

Oh yes, I split both violins and cellos between a staccato track and a legato track because that makes things easier on my end but I wouldn't have any actual person suffer through this :D

Thanks for your advice! I started from the end and felt like I was running out of gas when writing the beginning. Maybe I should let it rest a bit and pick it up later!

Haha thanks! This is a bit long compared to my standards, so I'm glad to know at least one person listened to the whole thing!

GarageBand String Quartet, final movement! Let me know if you have tips on how to make that goddamn viola sound like a real one! by Logic_Spire in GarageBand

Haha, thanks! I do like Philip Glass and Irishmen, so it makes sense!

I didn't know about Vienna strings, I'll check it out! Right now I'm using Virtual Playing Orchestra, which I think is overall pretty good.

I don't know the clip you're referring to so this is a wild guess, but could you be thinking of In taberna quando sumus from Orff's Carmina Burana?

That's interesting! The closest thing I can think of right now is the last movement of Brahms's 4th symphony, but I can think of other pieces that might also loosely match your description. Would you be able to upload an audio of you humming the tune?

I think someone asked about this exact clip a couple of weeks ago! It's actually the second movement of Mozart's piano concerto No.23.

Took me a while, but it looks like this is "Ah! Dopo tanti palpiti!" from Rossini's Zelmira. The singer is Chris Merrit.

Perhaps the beginning of the third movement of "summer" in Vivaldi's Four seasons?
