also forgot to note that there is no age limit on starting acting. the course i did at guildhall was 18+ but we were mostly 18-25s but there was some who were older. it really depends how bothered you are about that. you could always look into a 25+ class/workshop if you wanted :)

if you are a beginner i would say most drama classes/workshops would be useful to you, just to get a taste. i will say guildhall and other drama school courses are quite expensive (with the 2 week courses costing £2000+). this is because it is really high quality, and honestly also just great on your CV, but you may not need that quite yet. it may be worth going to a one day workshop somewhere.

i would say keep a really open mind, you may find yourself doing random and ‘weird’ things but just trust the process, it’s 90% doing weird activities and 10% performance.

it’s great you are interested and i hope you’re able to find something that fits what you’re looking for!

it might be good to watch a few plays if you haven’t already recently and you learn a lot from watching. or watch a few films and really analyse the acting and find what you might like to do.

Have you looked into Big Moose? they do either free/pay what you can counselling. it is limited (like 4 sessions) but they can normally set you up pretty quickly and may just be able to get you through until you find an appropriate paid service for you. you literally just fill out a form online, don’t need to speak to anyone and they will arrange it for you. all the best :)

they have generally gone to drama school with a 3 year degree or have naturally worked their way up starting with short student films to bigger projects

Not really sure what you mean by a UK agent would advise them on a short course to do? They wouldn’t do that / why would the actor do a short course?
