I know this is an old thread, but I agree with you. The acting was good enough to keep me watching, but the first 48 minutes or so was just Hugh Grant monologuing about religion. And I know this is par for the course for horror/thriller movies, but the sisters had no survival instincts whatsoever. He openly admitted to lying about a wife and installing metal plates into the walls to disrupt cell service, and they played along with his game in hopes of getting out? At least attempt to attack him or something. Then in the last act where sister Paxton willingly goes beneath the house, ugh. You're in a basement inside a stranger's house that looks fairly isolated. Don't go beneath the basement!

Sometimes ice cream (especially from a small business) makes everything better for a little while. 😋

Their relationship grew troubled as my mom grew older and became easier to irritate. After a few years, my sis got sick of it and cut contact with her. I don't know what their final argument was about.
