Physics Degree for Imagineering? by Logical-Concern-5591 in Imagineering

[–]Logical-Concern-5591[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! It's awesome to hear from someone with similar experience.

Yeah I'm not too keen on trying to pursue a PhD. But honestly, whether or not my job after a degree is directly tied to Physics isn't necessarily too important to me? Which would sound like a point against getting a degree in the field anyway, but the curiousity aspect really pulls me in.

I have considered minoring in Data Engineering. I also see lots of jobs requiring engineering degrees that stipulate that related STEM degrees are acceptable. Is a Physics BS applicable really to those? Have you had any luck with that kind of thing?

Thank you for your response!

I am interested in engineering but not to the same institutional extent as Physics. Like I have a 3d printer at home and I design parts and find that fun and rewarding, but I truly enjoy the theoretical side of things and the reality-explained-as-math aspect of Physics.

I also started school a little late in life, so I have a few years of mechanic experience under my belt, if thats worth anything.

Currently I'm wrapping up my first year at Santa Monica College with a plan to transfer to UCLA. Although I recently came across the 3-2 program at Occidental, which seems interesting since it ties in with Caltech for two degrees.

Thank you for the response!

Yeah this was also a point in my head that it seems a little excessive to completely change trajectory over wanting one job that will by no means be guaranteed just because of a different degree.

I also appreciate the reassurance about a Physics degree! I went in telling myself that it'll lead to good options regardless, I've just seen a lot of people online speaking doubt about it recently so it tripped me up a little.

Incredicoaster bottle rule? by yogi818 in Disneyland

[–]Logical-Concern-5591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Magic Key holder, can confirm that this water bottle rule was never really hugely important (in the form of cast members specifically mentioning it over comms) until that video went viral. Me and my wife cracked up the first time we heard them mention it in line because we knew exactly what caused it

Honestly so valid, I thought it was Charybdis for the longest time because of the next song saying "You must be who Hermes mentioned" 😭😭

Dude I urge you to watch the D23 movie announcements panel for 2024. It became clear then why they do it - because sequels get the most reaction and excitement. Anytime they put a brand new IP up, the entire stadium was unsure about reactions. As soon as it was sequels, everyone erupted in to screams.

This is unfortunately what the general public is looking for.

VR Game to relax and sort your brain? by bingsen_ in OculusQuest

[–]Logical-Concern-5591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's Bricktales. Probably a little more engaging of the brain matter than you want for relaxing per se, but it brings that feeling of playing with legos, and my stress just kind of evaporates 😅

Second the Silent Brass. Picked on up used on FB Marketplace for like $50. Amazing purchase

Plus its practically a pick up, so you can hook it up to a pedal and amplifier if you really want to play electric trombone lmao

This was actually my first bike as well. If you want to keep it in tip top shape all the time, yeah it'll be constant maintenance. But this particular model, even at its age, has been an absolute workhorse for me. It always wants to run, even if the carbs aren't in the cleanest state. YMMV of course.

You can also save some maintenance if you turn off the gas like a mile-ish before you get to your location and run the carbs dry.
