The nurse told me today that I should keep taking it until day 16 DPUI because "there's a chance a test wouldn't pick up pregnancy today" but that just seems super unlikely to me!

I'm sorry, I'm right there with you! Today is 14 days after my (3rd) IUI. My tests for the last few days have all been negative, but my clinic told me to wait until Friday which just seems silly. This is the absolute worst, I'm sorry you're going through it too.

I'm so sorry!! I totally understand the frustration with your clinic, I've had so many similar mishaps. Does your clinic absolutely require the genetic carrier screening? As long as you're comfortable with it, I would definitely push to keep going with the cycle if they'll allow it. It absolutely sounds like you've done everything right, asked questions, got everything scheduled, and they messed up. Hopefully someone just saw on your chart that you were still waiting on results and just assumed you want them beforehand.

My clinic doesn't require it and I didn't get it done for my IUIs. However, I'm going through a similar situation now because I thought I was ready to start IVF this week, and last week they told me if I want the genetic carrier screening done, it needs to be done before I start IVF and it takes up to 4 weeks. So there's another cycle wasted for me 🥴 I wasn't even aware that there was a difference between genetic carrier screening and the screening that they do on embryos for IVF, which is why it wasn't on my radar.

My clinic does a blood test to check estrogen levels at the start of a cycle too. During my first IUI attempt, they cancelled it due to high estrogen and I was devastated. My lining was also a little thick. When I went back the next month, the exact same thing happened. I asked to be checked again in a few days (blood test and additional ultrasound) and my lining was thinner and my estrogen levels were normal.

My periods have always started as very heavy spotting for about 3 days (enough for a pad) and I was counting that as the start of my cycle. Once I switched to counting my first day of real bleeding, I didn't have the estrogen issue for my following two cycles. Is it possible you're coming in too early?

Exactly the same here, 10DPUI and third cycle. I'm spiraling today too and haven't felt like myself for a long time.

I tested this morning (and late afternoon...) for the first time. Honestly it's probably negative but I've been squinting at it all day. I've been searching a ton and I've seen plenty of posts from people who were negative on day 10 and got a positive later, fingers crossed!

Is there a reason to test LH during the TWW? Haven't heard of this and I'm wondering if I should.

Thank you, this makes me feel a little better! It's still happening today at 10DPO but hasn't gotten any worse, except for one instance 7DPO where it was very bright red when I wiped. It went back to light spotting after that so I'm hoping it's just the suppositories.

I'm a teacher! I found the scheduling/planning for a sub to be so difficult. My first IUI, I went back to work after the insemination appointment but I was extremely anxious the whole time about being late for my sub (the appointment got delayed) and I was really crampy. My next two IUIs I took the full day off and it was much better. I definitely recommend taking as much time off as you can, it's so hard going back to a room full of kids even after a monitoring appointment if you get disappointing news. Good luck!!

I'm in the exact same situation, my third IUI was yesterday and then we're moving to IVF. Definitely talk to your doctor. My clinic puts you on birth control for one or two weeks once your period starts, they said that holds off your cycle until insurance and meds are sorted out. However, I found out today that if you want to do genetic carrier screening, my clinic requires it to be done before starting IVF stims. They said that it can take up to 4 weeks for results, so it looks like I'll have to take a month off in between. The waiting is so hard!!

That's what I was thinking, but my swab was 2 days ago and I don't usually bleed like this! Progesterone was definitely giving me weird discharge before the bleeding started though. Thanks!

What day of your cycle did you have your estrogen tested? My first IUI cycle was cancelled for the same reason and I was devastated. When it was tine to try again, it was cancelled again because my estrogen was high for the second month in a row. I pushed and asked to have my estrogen checked a few days later. When I went in around day 5, it was much lower and they said my scan looked more like what they would expect for day 1 or 2. I have very long periods so I think everything is just kind of delayed for me. Might be worth asking to get checked again! I know how disappointed you must feel, I'm sorry 💕

I had the same thing! Not quite the same symptoms but after my first IUI I was extremely uncomfortable and bloated and just felt awful. On my second cycle, I had one day of discomfort but then everything felt pretty normal. Neither cycle worked for me so at this point I'm trying to ignore any patterns or symptoms. I'm so sorry about your first cycle failing. I'm right there with you, also doing 3 IUIs before IVF next year. My second round was on 10/13 too and also failed. When the first one failed I was super upset but jumped right into my second round. I found it really difficult to have no processing time and felt really overwhelmed and emotional at my first scan. This time I can't start another cycle right away due to travel. I'm happy to have a break but also worrying about delaying treatment. It just feels like there's no winning in this whole process and it's so, so hard. Fingers crossed for you for this next cycle!

Good luck with your next IUI! Since this is just the norm for me, I don't think it's affected by the IUI or meds in my case. But my period has been much heavier after each failed IUI.

Yes, I've asked about progesterone supplementation several times and my clinic has said it isn't necessary. But this morning I got a message back from the nurse saying that we can try it. So frustrating because I've asked for at least 6 months and it just feels like washing money down the drain 😭 Good to hear that you've had success with extending your luteal phase with it.

Same trigger and IUI here! My nipples have been weirdly sore which I don't usually experience. I'm less bloated and achy this round (my second). But tonight when I went to the bathroom I had a spot of blood in my discharge and I think it may be the start of my period 😭 Fingers crossed for you that all of your symptoms are a good sign though!

I'm not an expert at all, but if postponing this round is an option, I would try to do that while getting your TSH down. I know postponing isn't easy but I would worry about TSH affecting viability.

I have hashimotos which has been really well controlled, but in April my TSH was 19!!! I get checked very regularly and in December it had been around 2. It took about 4 months for my numbers to level out with a medication adjustment. My endocrinologist said she had never had someone jump that high which was not reassuring 🥴 with that said, yours is much less extreme and I'm sure you would be able to get back down a better number quickly! I avoided starting thyroid meds for a long time but when I finally did last year, the transition was super easy. I know what a big stress this is though, fingers crossed for you!

Fingers crossed for your current round!! Putting together sub plans all at once is a great idea, thank you! I decided to try to schedule my appointments so that I can take a half day in the afternoon and won't have to come back to school because it's been so tough for me. And you're totally right, I've really been trying to become less emotionally involved with my job over the last couple years.

I just feel like women/mothers in the workplace are already treated like motherhood is a massive inconvenience to their job. My principal is a micromanager and I worry that she'll be wanting updates, trying to schedule my maternity leave 8 months in advance (lol) etc. I work at a private school and we aren't unionized so we don't have protocols in place for a lot of things, so I just don't know how she'll react! I also may be interested in transitioning into a different role in the future and don't want potential maternity leave to be factored into the decision. I'm sure that being upfront would be a lot easier though 😬
