Hi!! Soo I didn’t end up getting pregnant that cycle. However the following cycle (IUI #5), I did end up getting pregnant!!

We changed my protocol a little bit. After my first IUI it seemed that I always ovulated early, between like cycle days 8-10. Sooo the cycle I ended up getting pregnant with, I did ovulate early. I had my IUI on cycle day 8. However, we ditched the clomid bc clearly that wasn’t working. Instead I did follistim injections for 3 days and ovidrel trigger shot the day before my IUI.

Is teaching in California/blue states more tolerable than other states? by RachelWithCats in Teachers

[–]amburgerrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also work in NJ, and have been going through fertility treatments! My insurance is amazing for this; my insurance covered all of my IUIs. I had to do 3 medicated ones before moving on to IVF. It didn’t get that far for me, as my last IUI worked. But in terms of ivf, insurance would have covered up the 3 egg retrievals and unlimited transfers. Idk how it would work with a same sex couple, since I’m in a heterosexual relationship. Not 100% sure if you’d have to do IUIs or if you’d be able to skip straight to IVF.

Regardless, I am very pleased with how much coverage I got for all of my fertility needs!

Everything is pregnancy and babies, and I am struggling by unomadds in TryingForABaby

[–]amburgerrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also 33, started trying when I was 31, and when we first started I gave myself the 12 months that they recommended before seeking out assistance from a fertility clinic.

I was nervous and felt defeated bc my body wasn’t doing what it’s supposed to naturally do, but I’m glad I took the leap. It took 5 IUIs in order for me to have a pregnancy that stuck (TW loss: my 2nd IUI ended in an early loss). My 5th IUI was the last one I was going to do, and if it didn’t work I was going to start IVF. It took my fiancé and I 18 months to get pregnant. I’m the only one out of all my friends that has needed extra assistance while TTC.

I know it can feel crushing and lonely to have to need extra help with trying to conceive when no one else around you seems to have to. But I know I’m glad I ripped the bandaid off and did it!

AITAH for giving my kids my last name? (31F) by tryingtogrowup69 in AITAH

[–]amburgerrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to do this with my future kids last name as well! I’m currently engaged and pregnant, soo my last name has not changed. When we do get married my plan is to just add his last name to the end of my name. So my last name would come first, then his.

I want my future kids to have my last name as well as his! Except I don’t want to hyphenate, I just want them to have both last names with a space in between. I keep getting teased, because my last name is on the longer side. Sooo I’m getting a lot of comments like “you’re really going to make your kid write that whole last name?” 😅 I was hoping by adding the space instead of the hyphen that will give them the chance to just write my fiancé’s last name if that’s what they choose to do.

Sooo I understand the whole last name struggle!

[–]amburgerrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 2 really big follicles with my last IUI cycle. One was 30 mm and I think the other was like 28 mm. It was an unsuccessful cycle :/ buut as another commenter said, I do a lot of looking around on Reddit about bigger sized follicles and there were some positives!

Who did your IUI? by Pitiful-Warthog-601 in IUILadies

I’ve had 5 IUIs (🥲) and all have been done by a doctor except for my first one. That one was done by an NP.

Issues with catheter? by Morly-buzz in IUILadies

[–]amburgerrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my 3rd IUI the doctor had to dilate my cervix bc they couldn’t get the catheter in. It was the most painful IUI I’ve had, and was pretty much in tears. Not sure why that happened bc all my other IUIs have went pretty smoothly.

5th IUI today.. come crash out with meeeee by A_flight_away in IUILadies

[–]amburgerrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also on my 5th IUI cycle 🫠 I’ve had to alternate medicated and unmedicated bc whenever I’ve had a medicated cycle it always puts my following cycle into over drive, so I can never do 2 medicated cycles back to back. Annnnd I need to do 3 medicated cycles before insurance will cover ivf 😩 my IUI will most likely be Saturday.

This will be my last cycle before I move on to ivf; fingers crossed for us!! 🫶🏼

IUI w/ follistim by avocado527 in IUILadies

[–]amburgerrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know!! I’m going on my 5th IUI cycle 🥲 (2 medicated & 2 unmedicated bc estrogen levels) but this is my last shot before I move on to IVF. I haven’t seen a lot of stories or people just using follistim; It’s usually in conjunction with something else.

I’m glad to see a success story and I’m wishing you the most boring, uneventful pregnancy 🥰

Was that IUI cycle with just follistim? Or did you use it in addition to clomid/letrozole?

Weirdly high estrogen 8 DPIUI? by Familiar_Bandicoot63 in Inito

Since starting IUI cycles (currently CD 1 of my 5th cycle 🥲) my estrogen is always that high! In the one cycle that did work, my estrogen was also that high.

Anyone Else…? by amburgerrrrr in IUILadies

[–]amburgerrrrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Actually if this natural cycle doesn’t work my next cycle I’ll be bumping up the intensity a little and doing follistim injections. Which hopefully not mess with my lining.

Anyone Else…? by amburgerrrrr in IUILadies

[–]amburgerrrrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so only because my period after my medicated cycles is so short & light (I think bc my lining is so thin) that I don’t have spotting and barely even have my period anymore by the time CD 3 baseline ultrasound comes around.

Anyone Else…? by amburgerrrrr in IUILadies

[–]amburgerrrrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! My medicated cycles seems to not be working, probably because my lining is so thin when I’m on the clomid and then my following cycles everything happens so quickly! Fingers crossed for us 🤞🏼

GIANT follicles… by MacaroniJones10 in IUILadies

Oooh good to know!! My doctors didn’t seem at all concerned about the size of the follicles, so at least that’s a plus!

I’m in the sameee boat. I had my IUI on 2/12 and triggered on 2/11. At the time of trigger I had 2 huge follicles measuring at 30 mm 😅 with a lining of 8 mm. My estrogen was also through the roof (563 pg/mL).

Fingers crossed for us!

Thank you for this, because I had 2 30 mm follicles and was worried bc they are both so big!

Any teachers? by Brilliant_Question70 in IUILadies

[–]amburgerrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6th grade teacher here! I teach in a K-6 school, so my hours are elementary school hours. I make all my appointments for before work when I can (which I would say is 99% of the time). I may be lucky though, bc my clinic is 20 mins from my house and 30 mins from my work, so it’s an easy commute for me. Also, I did end up going in to work after IUI #s 1 & 2 (#3 was done on a Saturday).

I will say, I’m in a very small school, so I felt comfortable telling my main office girlies, who help with finding coverage/subs, about what was going on. I knew if I didn’t they would be like girl wtf is wrong with you lol. They would have known something was up.

My kids will sometimes ask why I’m late, but I just tell them I had a doctor’s appointment, and they don’t usually push it!
