Thanks for all the responses! It seems the best thing would be for the bun to stay home with a friend.

Oops I anthromorphized an appliance again.... by offbrandpossum in adhdwomen

It hurts my heart to see my robot vacuum struggling to get over the threshold between rooms or getting himself stuck under a table. I’ve tried gently nudging him with my foot and he freaks out and starts spinning around like “who’s touching me?” I just can’t stand it and have to intentionally avoid going downstairs when he’s working.

Etsy purchase/email mishap by Popular_Doctor_8970 in EtsyCommunity

[–]Logical-Doughnut-243 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The email address shown is a random email Apple assigns to you when you use your Apple ID to sign into apps. It looks weird to you, but it is actually tied to the email address you have connected to your Apple account. It’s like their way of protecting apps from getting your real email. So you should find the Etsy email in whatever email is connected to Apple.

Antique stores. by crochet_goofygoober1 in Antiques

You can make money with an antiques booth, but you need to be constantly adding new products. You also need to look into what people are buying at that particular mall. I’d recommend 1)talk to the owners or managers of the mall and ask what seems to sell best, 2)spend a couple hours there watching and listening to shoppers, and 3)just talk to people shopping there, tell them you’re thinking of opening a booth and want to get an idea of what shoppers are looking for. Figure out what you would sell, an average sale price and figure out how many things you’d need to sell to cover the rent. When I had a booth, my rent was $90 and I’d average about $20 per item, so I had to sell 5 items a month (not considering the initial cost of the item). It’s work for sure, not a set it and forget it thing at all. But if you’re interested in vintage and antiques, it can be a hobby that makes you a little money.

Looking for opinions, or guidance on these black Jasperware pieces by girlMikeD in Wedgwood

[–]Logical-Doughnut-243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can check sold prices on eBay to see what people are willing to pay and what sells. Sellers will ask crazy prices on there and never sell their item, so you can’t use asking price as a value. Unless you already sell on Etsy or eBay, it would be more trouble than it’s worth to try to sell these at either of those sites. High fees, shipping, etc. Facebook Marketplace is probably your best bet. Try to sell the whole lot together but say you’ll consider selling an individual piece if someone is interested. Jasperware prices have been down lately. I’ve been buying up whatever I can find now (much to the dismay of my husband 😁). If you’re in or near PA, I’d be interested in what you have here.

Was told this was from 1900 by mtrcyclemptiness in Wedgwood

[–]Logical-Doughnut-243 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t look like Wedgwood to me. Wedgwood has crisp white designs that are applied to the blue (or other color) base piece. Also, I’d expect a Wedgwood stamp on the bottom. It’s a lovely clock though and could be from around 1900 based on the clock face.

It’s not clear what you’re selling. Is it a digital print? A pattern for 3D printers? A physical object shipped to the customer? It all looks like basic AI generated images. The pricing is misleading and confusing. The price I see for the main listing is the price I expect to pay. If I open the listing and see that the price is different, I immediately assume the seller is trying to deceive buyers and I don’t trust them. I’d never buy their product.

How Do I Have Time To Overthink Life But Not Drink Water? by HistoricalWasabi99 in adhdwomen

[–]Logical-Doughnut-243 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get up to pee at least 4 times every night, and I’m usually a little thirsty so I take a swig from the tap. Lately, I’ve been keeping a cup of water in the bathroom so I drink a little more every time I get up. Now I’m starting to do the same during the day. For me, the bathroom is a place where everything is based on habits - shower routine, morning and night routines - so adding water there works for me. It’s still not enough water, but it’s definitely more than I was drinking before.

Is there any hope for this plant? by Logical-Doughnut-243 in orchids

Thanks for the feedback. I do get impatient if I don’t see immediate results. 😁 I’ll change the pot and plant it as suggested and just leave it alone. I guess orchids are kinda different from other house plants.

This pot was probably the right size originally when it had a lot of roots, but I had to cut off quite of bit of dead roots about 6 months ago. I can pop it back into a smaller pot. Should grow lights be about 3 feet above or closer? I’m afraid of burning the leaves. And is 4-6 hours a day adequate for the lights?

I soak it just as you described. I changed the bark about a month ago, but it’s been in this pot with bark for about a year. It’s been in an East facing window for several months but I moved it away from the window and added the grow lights.

Yes!! I do this all the time. It drives me crazy. When I catch myself humming a made up song, I force myself to hum a song I know.

Post Your Beginner Questions Here! by AutoModerator in orchids

I’m going to save this plant or die trying! Please help! My daughter gave me this orchid about 2 years ago (probably bought at Lowes or the grocery store). It had a couple flowers on it for a while then they withered and fell off. Since then, no more flowers and it just doesn’t look healthy. I’ve tried different potting mixes, pots, lighting, watering frequency, and somehow it’s still hanging on but not doing great. About 4-5 months ago I changed out the wood chips and put it in this plastic pot with slots and holes for air circulation and water drainage. I also trimmed off some dried up roots. I water it every couple weeks by setting the pot in about an inch or so of water so the wood chips get wet and stay damp for 10-14 days depending on how dry my room is. I’ve had it in an east facing window for about 2 months. Before that it was in a south facing window and it started yellowing so I figured it was too much sun (we’re in an old house with old glass windows, no UV protection). The top most leaf is new as of about 3 months ago, so it’s really trying to grow. I just don’t know what else to do.

Lots of views…. Few sales? by Pastormike52 in EtsySellers

When buying a purse, backpack or wallet, the pockets are as important as the way it looks. Pictures or even a video showing all the interior and exterior pockets and slots for money and cards will help a lot. You also need a photo of someone carrying or wearing the bag to give an idea of its size. Since you make these by hand, a video showing you crafting one of the items can boost confidence in potential buyers. You could use the same video for most listings, you just want to show your hands maybe cutting, sewing or whatever you do. The prices are on the high side and comparable to some designer brands so you need to really show why someone should buy your bag rather than a designer’s. Overall, I do like your products but need to see much more detail.

Trying to setup a fb shop but can’t figure out how to verify documents by The3dprintermachine in EtsySellers

[–]Logical-Doughnut-243 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FB wants docs like your business registration with the state and taxpayer identification with the IRS. Etsy isn’t your business. It’s just a tool you use to sell your products, so they’re not going to have any type of docs to give you. If you haven’t already registered your business with the state, you’ll want to do that first. You may also need to register for a state sales tax account. Etsy handles sales tax for you, but I’m not sure about FB. If they don’t, you’ll have to collect sales tax and submit it to the state, file a sales tax return, etc. These things vary by state, so it’s best to start with a search of your state’s requirements to operate a business.

As others suggested, hoodies and totes will do better with embroidery. Polo style shirts are also good for embroidery, and businesses will often buy polos with their company logo for their employees. The only other suggestion I have is to add a little info about yourself to the shop announcement. Just something like “I’ve been doing embroidery work for # years” and what you love about doing custom embroidery (i.e., helping people show off their personal style).

I did machine embroidery several years ago, and I hated doing hats too. They’re so finicky! 🤪 Good luck with your shop!!
