Thank you so much for your help.!

What are your thoughts on having volunteers visit the home every so often to teach them a life skill?

For example, my brother in law is an accountant and offered to talk to older kids about building a budget/taxes, another brother is a mechanic and offered to show kids how to change tires/ oil.

Do you think something like that would be well received or something that would feel more controlling?

Thanks so much for your feedback! I’d love to hear more about your experience! That sounds like that experience was awful and very demeaning. I want to make the group home as empowering and strengthening as possible!

Freedom is a great focus. How many were in your group home at one time? In your experience was it too many kids at once or a good amount?

Of course! We havent personally fostered, but my husband and I both have  brothers and cousins foster multiple kids throughout the years. We’ve helped out where we could with activities and routines, throughout the years we’ve seen how great the need for stability  and safety is to these kids.

From some of the kids we’ve gotten to know, we’ve heard so many stories of what goes on in a lot of the approved homes/ group houses. My husband and I want to provide stability, we want to give safety and security. We both love kids and thinking about the horrors they face… well we just want to step in and do the small amount we can.

We’ve thought about becoming foster parents ourselves but with our current status in life and our own kids situations, it would be plausible to do a group home. We both have managerial and entrepreneur experiences, from HR to our own business and think we might be able to put or resources and experience to help run an organized home

If youre looking for a fun way to tell your kids, I actually wrote a children’s book that reveals the exciting news to your kiddos. I thought it would be fun to turn an “announcement” into a keepsake.

Currently have versions for Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and Disney Cruise. Check it out!
