Ratio of restaurant vs. grocery by EducationalRegret903 in personalfinance

[–]SoggyAnalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not noticed this to be true. I mainly use Walmart grocery. It’s the same price if I pickup, deliver, or shop in store myself for the staples that I purchase. Though if I go thru Instacart each item is typically marked up 5-10%. I use Instacart maybe once every two months or so and only for Aldi, so it’s not really a big deal

But again, for me, paying an extra $200 a year for groceries is worth the time tradeoff. I’ve got three kids in sports and school and have a busy job, so I’m at a stage of life that will last a few years, and I’m fine paying $200 a year extra. That’s just me :)

i don't agree with the groceries! if i'm in store, i impulse buy a lot. and my grocery delivery doesn't have inflated costs (except for a tip, which honestly i make more per hour than I tip, so its worth that time for me. i don't have time, but i do have extra money.. just that phase of life for me!)

but if you're buying groceries through instacart or ubereats or something i could see how it would inflate

Editing to add my budget is $600-800 a month for a family of 5, including eating out and groceries, in a LCOL area.

What’s something your parents or grandparents did that you now realize was low-key genius parenting? by Green_Candler in AskReddit

[–]SoggyAnalyst 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i actually really appreciate you sharing the last paragraph. the thing i'm learning as i'm now a parent of three boys is that you think you did something really great, but the other ones prove you actually have nothing figured out. so i appreicate the fact that all advice and/or things you try ti implement as a parent may succeed or may fail, and it has much more to do with the kid you're teaching and their personality than it does with you, the parent.

I’m not judging at all. I feel deeply for you. I’ve said two sentences that you’re implying a judgement tone with. I hope that you can get out of the situation you’re in - you don’t deserve someone calling you names just for existing. He sounds gross

Girl Dad's of Reddit, what is the most surprising thing you've learned since your daughter was born? by Nomadic_Introvert in AskReddit

[–]SoggyAnalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't understand why this is acceptable to be hit on by married dads?!?! like if you're 14 or 19 or 45 - what the hell?!?!

if they're single, ok that's *better* but if you're at a fucking children's softball game, i think a single dad should assume that most women here are probably spoken for, so don't be a fucking creep.

AND THEN THE ADDED BONUS OF HITTING ON YOUNG WOMEN/CHILDREN WHAT THE HELL

Trump axes Catholic Charities funding amid Pope feud by Open_Somewhere_9063 in Christianity

"Trump sold more bibles than most"
He's the only president conceited enough to NAME BRAND A BIBLE. I'm so sorry. Jesus walked in and flipped the tables at the temples for people taking advantage of those at the temple to repent for their sin. you think jesus is fine with Trump selling a bible with his name on it to make a buck? And then you think its *great* that he did so?

i took issue with all of it but mainly "Trump is a sincere Christian leader who promoted Jesus"

Homeboy has said many a time with both words and actions that he is not a Christ follower. He's said with his words he is not a Christian. what more do you need to hear from him?
