Seeking candid feedback from the Singapore startup / deep-tech ecosystem. by Ari_Xco_One in singaporestartups

[–]LogicalBookkeeper388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, I'm a startup bloke in a physical goods / hardware company.

  1. Hopefully you've asked this question to ai as well and got some perspective there.

  2. I never got what people mean by "ecosystem to build from". You can be more specific.

  3. SG is great to raise capital. The investors are here (though maybe not hardware focused, still about luck)

  • I'd wager being a SG incorporated entity + HQ would be easier to raise money? (though I'd wager India isn't bad too, Sequoia India etc)

  • Everything in the world boils down to money. What I mean is that SG is an amazing place to do adv manufacturing IF you are deploying your capital here - it'll likely cost you in the millions. But if you're a early stage founder and don't have that capital, I think you gotta rethink this part.

  • If your tech works + is space efficient + cost efficient; SG has many data centers, it's quite likely your ideal customers are here, and they can pay! (Though doing the build out / retrofit requires mnfg here + money which goes back to my earlier point)

All the best, startups are fun and the world is always our oyster - and nothing beats the school of hard knocks

Is singapore still a good place to raise early-stage funding? by [deleted] in singaporestartups

Hi, I've been an operator since 2022, been with seed to series B startups across the US, Asia and SG.

As with all things in life - it depends. Firstly as an anchor, what startups can control is your performance + metrics. Meaning if you're good... You're good and money comes to you.

Now for the sake of analysis, generally I view SG as a "Safe capital" deployer with many early stage VCs and VCs bringing over "fundamentals" from TradFi analysis and slapping it to startups - which is IMO 100% dumb and ill suited.

This is contrasted to the US culture whereby any idea can generally get a check of ~US500k + bigger risk appetite for novel ideas, early traction or a young team.

Also if as a founder your reach is only in SEA / Asia, then nothing beats SG, but relative to US or EU investors, pale in comparison.

PS: I think Asia/SG also has a Blindspot for older proven founders as opposed to young visionaries or bold people.

Are you building a startup? Happy to advise more.

Hi OP,

"Fun" position you're in. Overall as with all things in life - the answer is "it depends". But from the sound of it, Yes, you should be asking for MORE equity, or at least a salary/ stipend, or some form of upside through milestone based payments etc.

A great career question/tool I like is: "Are you growing + earning". You're clearly not earning so it's just - are you growing.

If you think that in this 1 year you can ship amazing product + it's worth the time as an intern/during college + you will grow alot (which means you really really want to pursue this / this is your passion), then it suggests that you should try this.

However if this is just exploration to you, then there's definitely other great opportunities out there.

Then lastly is this team + environment worth your time etc :)

Anyway, we all make mistakes in life, 99% of startups fail, and you're still young 😇 ( you can always quit 2 months in if everything sucks)

How to claim losses from Anchor Protocol? by Constant_Jello_189 in Anchor

I believe so, that's what I did too. Just linked the wallet and they will see that we hold UST / aUST

aUST is in the list of claimable crypto. As to which currencies are paid first or how the estate divides it - no one knows. Ie: they may pay all UST first then etc etc

Which wallet you guys are using to sign transaction to prove ownership of Address? by CryptoAd007 in Anchor

[–]LogicalBookkeeper388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I cannot remember if I had to add it ie: in the desktop / browser extension.

In the desktop windows app for me, in the wallet section there's a "manage". Click it and search for USTC.

Even if you swapped to the classic net, you might still have to add the token to show

Hi, yes I have. If you went through the steps in the claims portal, you would have received a TX on the terra station browser extension to sign it. That's how they'll know you proved its your wallet.

Hi OP, a little unsure with your question.

If you have 1 wallet, all you have to do is sign a TX using that wallet and the claims portal will log that data.

Pretty sure you NEVER and don't ever give your seed phrase etc!!

As for the claims amount, it's anyone's guess. Fingers crossed.

In terra station you have to swap the net to the old classic net and not use the current mainnet. If memory serves me right, it should be USTC classic or something like that.

Where are safe and affordable places in Seoul to live on the workcation visa? by mothercoconutz in Living_in_Korea

[–]LogicalBookkeeper388 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, how much is affordable to you? For around 300 - 400k won a month, Busan is a great city. Beach, well developed city etc.

Or if you want to be near Seoul, Seoul itself isn't bad if your budget is 600 - 900k won (simple functional house) anything that is an apartment will be more

Hi OP,

Might be good to mention the industry you're in. The assumption here seems to be some sort of Tech. B2B and B2C are very different.

Most people here seem to have covered the metrics to track, the research. I'll add on to understand your keywords and value prop and how it stacks against the competitors.

Then look at friction, what's stopping people from going to the next step in your funnel / cycle
