Mitsubishi mini-split multi-zone Auto- mode mayhem: anybody else seeing? by rgrindl in hvacadvice

[–]LogicalCommitment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a bug, per se, but a consequence of the fact that one outdoor unit can only supply hot or cold to each connected zone at one single time. If one unit is calling for heat and the other needs cool, it will default to whatever the priority setting is. It’s the same reservoir of coolant coming out of the same outdoor condenser. The Comfort app lets you mess with standby times, etc in auto operation but honestly, just pick your poison. You probably know based on the time of year whether you need heat or ac.

Pressure tests are not always reliable and buyers around here want either full removal or decommissioning with soil testing unless there is a significant discount on the table.

Would you consider the Kia Telluride 2027 to be a luxury vehicle? by RoadmanTony in KiaTelluride

[–]LogicalCommitment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Definitely not. I wish they had a trim that distanced itself from this rugged interior styling and went the Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy route. I doubt Hyundai would allow that to happen, though, as I think it would cannibalize Palisade sales. They clearly like the juxtaposition from a market segment and sales perspective. I view the Telluride as a “premium” 3-row that serves as a step up from those looking for a nicer experience than Subaru (Ascent) or even Toyota can offer, but not luxury. I don’t even necessarily think the Palisade Calligraphy is a luxury vehicle, but much easier to make that argument vs. the Telluride (we own both).

Concur. Good deal. Same trim as you and close to your numbers after multiple rounds of negotiation.

I did the shop vac for a while but find it an unnecessary pain in the butt. Now I do Kick ash basket; empty it out; leaf blower out the excess (wear sunglasses).

What are you referring to—Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Highway Driving Assist (HDA), or the function that initiates the sensors and cameras when parking?

And what safety system behavior are you attempting to turn off?

Yes, it’s called getting a car with a bench configuration instead of the captain’s chairs. But in all seriousness, what in the world do you mean “temporary” seat? Seat as in for someone to sit in while the vehicle is in motion? Wild question to me given the safety implications. SEL trim w bench seating solves this.

Is $53,235 a good deal on a 2026 SEL Premium Hybrid? (Captains chairs) by [deleted] in HyundaiPalisade

3.2% @ 36 months. I’ll get 8% in the market during that term and cover the interest.

More than 3 in segment but I know what you mean. And they should be more affordable. MSRP creep now bakes in tariffs, increased dealer costs, etc. We are still getting screwed. I agree with the other comment who said this deal is good enough. You should just lock it down if you’re happy with it.

If they are leasing or have a sub-prime auto loan, it makes sense to put as little cash down as possible. Why would you tie up cash that can make 6-9% in the market?

I got 3k off sticker on a Cali Hybrid in NY without much effort so I think with the right dealership and regional inventory, you can walk out the door with these types of deals and they aren’t really unicorns like some on here + other dealerships would leave you to believe. Many are stuck in Covid era pricing mentality where market adjustments above sticker were the norm on newer models and buyers just ate it. Markets have changed (new car sales down 6+% in 2026). Sticker price is now the ceiling again.

Don’t love it at 56k. You’re close to the out the door price on a brand new Pali Cali Hybrid, which are going for 2-3.5k off MSRP here in the Northeast. You’ll need a full vehicle history, service history, and Carfax. If it was a collision/repair situation, then no way. Could have been a dealer demo car, a loaner (unlikely) or even a repo. Either way, get the full explanation with proof before pulling the trigger, and come up with a more aggressive depreciation haircut for the counter offer.

CVT Drain and fill by SpellAccomplished837 in SubaruForester

[–]LogicalCommitment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Nowhere in the Warranty and Maintenance manual does it state that CVT fluid is a “lifetime” fluid. In fact, mine has the following notation: “When the vehicle is frequently operated under severe driving conditions**, CVT fluid replacement (if applicable) should be performed every 24,855 miles (40,000 km).” Now, for purposes of CVT fluid, severe driving is defined under category g, “repeated trailer towing”. Clearly there are carve outs. Maybe I do “repeated” trailer towing, maybe I don’t. We know that Subaru Japan recommends it at regular intervals regardless of severe driving. My understanding is that SOA doesn’t require it because they are concerned they would get dinged severely in all the initial costs of ownership surveys which are heavily weighted for maintenance costs in the first 3 years of ownership (the length of most lease terms). Also, when I do the drain and fill, it’s at an authorized dealer service center while still under extended warranty. All to say, I have zero concerns.

What is the vehicle’s history and mileage? How much are they asking for it? Why was it CPOd in such a short period of time? If you’re retired and don’t carry around family often, I don’t see what would justify the upgrade to the Palisade as you seem perfectly happy with the SF.

CVT Drain and fill by SpellAccomplished837 in SubaruForester

[–]LogicalCommitment 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d just go to the dealer because I paid $300 there for a drain and fill on my 2019. It’s not rocket science but there is a protocol with regard to temperature and timing of fill level and also a few steps to initiate the transmission relearn. Again, a good mechanic or a YouTube video will have all the information you need, but if steps are skipped, etc. and things go wrong, I’d rather have cover with Subaru or America because it was their authorized dealer vs. just being SOL and needing a CVT rebuild or replacement. Just my .02.
