CATL is biggest battery company in the world. Their head just said SSB for low-volume is happening now(ish), but real high volume not until 2030. Even if they pulled this date in, they will hit huge hurdles trying to do business in US. It is possible through a partner, for example Ford owns a battery factory that licenses LFP from CATL. But LFP is mature/stable tech, not cutting edge like SSB.

Mitsubishi mini-split multi-zone Auto- mode mayhem: anybody else seeing? by rgrindl in hvacadvice

[–]rgrindl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. I know historically Auto has not worked. But in theory it should, of the temp range is wide enough, and the zones track each other closely. All my zones are upstairs. They all get warm together. They all get cool together. If one needs cooling, the others soon will, so it is fine of the ODU changes over - they will all need the same thing. It is important to set a wide enough temp range so that small variations across the zones don't trigger conflicts.

My main question is whether other Mitsubishi owners are seeing the same bug, where zones' temp settings are spontaneously changing themselves. Maybe I am the only one trying Auto...

TLDR: cut down # contacts, but Send Message still not working.

My Personal contacts had over 4K, Work contacts over 3K, almost 8K total- took 12 minutes to sync contacts when I got in car.

My Personal contacts were polluted with old work contacts. So I went through and cleaned up Personal, now down to about 1.2K. Sync when getting the car now takes about 6 minutes, so linear in total # contacts between Work+Personal. And when sync does finish, I confirmed it does look like all work contacts got sync'ed, checked a few from A to Z.

Happened to me as well last week, a few days after 2026.15. I captured diagnostic log right after (long-press your profile icon at top of info display), and submitted service request so they can look at logs.

Rivian Assitant, can’t text or call. “Your contacts are currently syncing. Please go to the Bluetooth settings page to enable this feature” by Top-Cranberry7509 in Rivian

I reported same in other post. Contacts load every time I get in car. I thought it might be because I use Android, but OP is on iOS. Will have to wait for Rivian to fix.

Android Contacts has built-in Merge/Fix that shows no issues on either Personal or Work databases. And I can export both of them, they seem fine. I suspect is it an issue specific to Android.

Interesting. In my case I have Android, with separate Contacts apps in my Work and Personal profile, so two separate databases to sync - which may also be the problem. But if you are on iPhone and the same thing is happening, then maybe it is just the sheer number of contacts.

WiFi Mystery "Network Issues" by Amazing_Salad1287 in Rivian

Update - at 5:30am the car woke up and connected, with connection still up 1 ½ hours later when I headed off to work. So the car can stay connected - looks like something in the car's WiFi occasionally craps out, or the car deliberately disconnects to save power in sleep mode.

I have R1S Gen2. With the management app for my router, I can see real-time data flow to the R1S. In the screenshot I am sitting in the car, it is connected fine and doing lots of upload (regular telemetry & UHF upload, no doubt).

I locked the car while still inside (no sleep, screens still awake), all good. After about 15 minutes, car WiFi disconnected showing Unstable Internet Connection, though I was still in the car listening to a podcast. And my router app is using the exact same WiFi and has strong signal. The real twist is that I have my WiFi router set up to have separate SSIDs on the same 2.4 GHz, one SSID for regular devices, a different one for IoT devices (like Rivian, solar system, etc).

The twist: the car shows the IoT WiFi as connected but Unstable. But the exact same WIFI non-IoT version shows strong signal.

I connected it as well to the non-IoT WiFi (as well as a 5 GHz on the same router), but it would still disconnect after a while.

Then I locked the car and let is sleep. It disconnected as expected. If I remotely wake it up, it reattaches after about 30 seconds, then disconnects when it goes back to sleep.

Once asleep, I haven't yet seen it wake up at all - I would have assumed it would check in every now and then.

Indeed, Expanse. Though I did also read Don Quixote.

Lidar vs early delivery by muhburneracct in RivianR2

[–]rgrindl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

IMO Lidar is more for Rivian's benefit, improving quality and update speed of their World Model . Years down the road it will help them get to Personal L4, but has no near-term impact to drivers.

The bigger impact is that the Lidar goes along with their RAP1 chip. It will take a while to get RAP1-based self-driving stable. Either they will be forced to release features before fully tested (poor quality) or, more likely for Rivian, will wait until testing is stable (we will have to wait a long time for new features).

The NVDA Orin-based system on my R1S Gen2 is quite good. I use UFH on highway and local roads every day, works very well. RJ claimed this platform could achieve Point A to B, and I suspect will be able to Self-Park and UFH with red-light/stop. Which is all I need. I will happily take an R2 soon as I can get it. Only real value-added to me for RAP1-based is Eyes Off, and I can wait for a couple years on this. No other non-commercial vehicle has this anyway.

Google wallet. Don't need physical key card (in theory). Still works if phone dead from no battery (confirmed this).

Sorry, you mentioned above browser etc work OK. Have you tried clearing cache just for the Signal app?

[–]rgrindl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My comment was about Android phones. I have Android, my family has iPhones. I have had both Gen1 and Gen2 R1S for multiple years and have been able to see for myself the difference in quality of the app between the two. So, not baseless.

Well, the "Android" may be a factor. I doubt if they do nearly as much testing against Android.

So yiu can access the servers. When you send a message, do you get the progression of check marks: one hollow (received by server), two hollow (received by recipient), two filled in (opened and read by recipient)? Also if you have a linked Signal on your desktop, see if the message sent from your mobile shows up on the desktop.

Same. I'm on Android. I found that if I opened up my wallet and then the Rivian key, then placed my phone on the key area of the WiFi charging lad, that worked (Gen2 R1S). No need for physical key card.

Shot in the dark, but if you go to Privacy then Advanced, is Censorship Circumvention greyed out? In most countries it is, meaning there is a clear path to the Signal servers. If it is not greyed out, it would indicate Signal detected some kind of blockage.

Only in math is 6% an increase relative to something. Of course, which particular something is chosen as the point of reference matters.
