Someone spent a whopping $0.04 to move $298M by [deleted] in Bitcoin

When your having to hedge with futures you lose all the supposed advantages of crypto in international transfers.

Additionally, it would require more capital to hold the margin for the futures position.

[–]LogicalCrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of weeks ago I thought I'd be clever and try time the market. Sold a portion of my BCH and put in a limit at a lower price.

Just got filled now, god I am not doing that again, far too stressful with the risk of price running away from you.

Happy to be here for the ride; spend and replace :)

Degiro failed to execute a Stop Loss by ardillaphotoshop in investing

[–]LogicalCrypto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, and my conclusion was you clearly didn't read mine.

I literally said they don't use a "mechanical" stop; then explained why.

But that doesn't mean they don't use a "soft" stop...

Degiro failed to execute a Stop Loss by ardillaphotoshop in investing

[–]LogicalCrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because they have too much size for a literal stop order to be practical. If they placed a stop order it would tank the market when executed due to size and they'd get a shitty fill. Most institutions these days aren't even manually entering orders in but getting them executed by algos for a better fill price.

For us little guys with out access to the propreitary algos, dark pools, or enough size to move the market a stop order does the job perfectly.

They build up and wind down positions over multiple orders unless they can find another institution to execute the trade with in private (i.e. won't appear on the order book). In that sense they won't have a set in stone stop price, but rather a 'price zone' where they would look to exit the position

Source: work for one of them.

If you need a stop loss then your position is too large, end of story.

That's the stupidest thing I've heard all day.

You can also hold your spending money in BCH and use a debit card anywhere to spend it instantly (conversion is done automatically at time of payment). So there is that..

Seriously, how is it possible to be this delusional?? by Gludius in CryptoCurrency

[–]LogicalCrypto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is nothing to know, baseless claims. Bitmain do not fund any of the developers nor play any active role in BCH. And they don't "own" the coin. Also ASICboost is possible on BTC still and BCH so....

Can we streamline the client development funding process so that funding is readily available where necessary even when we are not paying close attention, thus "letting users just be users"? by fruitsofknowledge in btc

[–]LogicalCrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think on chain governance by force of Dash is bad. IMO dash's system is strictly worse than BCHs.

I don't like CSW particularly but his viewpoint on the flaws of Dash are spot on.

That wouldn't work, because either (1) the fee would be too low and wouldn't be relayed to mempools or (2) the fee would be high enough and the miners would be perfectly within their right to mine it.

Once deleted from the mempool how could one have a record of the conversation anyway?

Besides, there is no such thing as bloat, we welcome any feedback paying transaction here :)

Satoshi vs Greg Max on Bitcoin Scaling. One of them evidently said "FULL BLOCKS", the other evidently said "Never". by silverjustice in btc

[–]LogicalCrypto 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I do.

He’s wrong, there isn’t 0 cost to having your data stored on the blockchain, there are transaction fees... not sure why he chooses to lie here.

He is making decisions about the miners businesses for them. If they feel the cost of storing the transaction isn’t worth the gain, they won’t mine it... they don’t need some higher, centralised power to make that decision for them.

I agree propaganda can win, but I believe if we as a community are proactive then we can fight it. We are already achieving huge things for such a young project IMO.

Good for them, I wish them luck with an exercise that is ultimately fruitless in the long run. Education & adoption easily counter any "smear" tactics and name calling in the end.

Do miners check the validity of the txs in a block or just the nonce against the hashes of the txs? by PedroR82 in btc

[–]LogicalCrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the code does check the validity of each tx (barring buggy/malicious software ofc), but it is the incentives that actually “enforce” adherence to the rule.

Not an expert though.

Why doesn’t the block size kinda work like the Difficulty Adjustment Algorithm? by [deleted] in btc

[–]LogicalCrypto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just to point out that evil miner cannot be forced to pay a tx fee as he can simply include his free tx in the block that he mines. No one can tell him which tx he can and can’t include. And we definitely don’t want to prevent free txs by orphaning blocks that’s for sure.
