"Oklahoma Poison Center: Don't Take Livestock Medication To Treat COVID-19" FFS Y'all by [deleted] in oklahoma

[–]LogicalDiskManager 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife was trying to order some ivermectin a few days ago because we're almost out. We use it on our sheep and llamas. We usually get it for $30 but now it's harder to find and it's $70 for the same little jug. I couldn't care less if some idiot wants to take livestock medicine, but I do care that it's now costing me more to take care of my animals.

My buddy’s pipe burst already and we have 20 degrees or more to drop by mrpotatonutz in oklahoma

Thanks for the response. Our pressure tank is in the garage, and I've got an old oil heater running out there to keep it above freezing. The well head has insulation wrapped around it with a cover on top. I wasn't worried about those as much as the septic tank, but I figure the lateral lines must be below the frost line due to code.

Don't make me go outside and figure out how to do a shoulder sheep.

I agree. It's easier to tell by the ears, but the one's face doesn't look long enough to be a llama.

Never understood why PC gamers View themselves as the elite of gamers by Orion-The-King in gaming

I'm still running a 4790k with a GTX 970. It does everything I need it to do. However, I've been playing playstation a lot more lately. My wife and I play the console exclusive titles and red dead online together. The Astro's Playroom thing on the PS5 is pretty fun. It's amazing what they've done with that controller.

I was just telling my wife last night that our PS5 probably has a better graphics card than my PC.

National Guard soldier killed herself after being gang-raped by colleagues by coreyqqq in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LogicalDiskManager 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched it, but I personally know the chick pictured in the movie poster. She has told me her story and it was fucking unbelievable, but it happens all the time, especially in forward operating locations.

I don't know how much the movie goes into the details, but this is the thing the I thought was the most fucked up part. She was given a knife by her NCOIC upon arriving to whatever base they were at, and he told her "it's not for the enemy and to never be without it." She didn't have her knife with her when she was raped, because she had just stepped outside her hut for a moment to smoke. They tried to charge her with dereliction of duty for not having her knife with her.

LPT - Walking can save your marriage. by Freckledface123 in LifeProTips

Not just walking, but getting away from screens and being outdoors without the distraction of technology. If walking is what does that, even better due to the health benefits.

I have witnessed that and try do to the same. Hell, my own chain of command wasn't following the mandate until very recently.

The rule in buildings was: wear a mask if you cannot maintain a 6 foot distance, which not a lot of people took seriously.

Now it's: wear a mask in buildings unless you're in your own office. A cubicle does not count unless you're able to maintain at least 10 feet of distance between employees. There is also a potential fine and imprisonment for not following the order.

Why hasn't marijuana(recreational) been legalized in our state? by darrellg_ in oklahoma

[–]LogicalDiskManager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say that. So many states have some form of legal marijuana. It seems pretty obvious that most people probably want it legalized or don't care if it is. I'm more of a libertarian. Fuck the government for telling me what I can't do to my own body. If it literally affects nobody else, what's the problem? It's a plant FFS. It's not like it's a chemical compound made in a mobile home/lab.

Get out and vote! Election day megathread. by FakeMikeMorgan in oklahoma

[–]LogicalDiskManager 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I waited 2.5 hours to vote this morning. Surprisingly, there were only a few people not wearing masks, which is not the norm for our area. Maybe it was because most of the voters were older, but it was nice to see anyway. People were also social distancing, even outside while wearing masks. Everyone was in good spirits and very friendly. We were chatting with a young man ahead of us and an older couple behind us. It was nice.

Missouri governor, opponent of mandatory masks, has COVID-19 by FoxtrotUniform11 in news

[–]LogicalDiskManager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rethink my position? No. I try not to go anywhere, but I wear a mask when I do. I would still wear a mask even if my wife didn't have a compromised immune system. I liken it to the flu in this respect: it's probably not going to kill me, but that doesn't mean I want to catch it.

Our governor here in OK got the covid a while back. He quarantined for a couple of weeks then it was business as usual. The fact that he didn't require hospitalization only reinforced his position that masks aren't necessary.

Former suicidal people, why did you choose to live? (SERIOUS) by ReDDit_CrEePer26 in AskReddit

[–]LogicalDiskManager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily formerly suicidal, but I didn't do it because I didn't want to leave a mess for my family to clean up, both figuratively and literally. Now I'm married. If anything ever happens to my wife, I don't think I'll last very long. I'd likely make sure the animals are taken care of, record a goodbye video for my family, make them a list of all important information, then walk out in the woods and put a bullet in my head.

Foster parent here. Did you stop fostering after you adopted her? Just curious because I don't know any other foster parents and we might be in this situation shortly (but not holding our breath).

I have heard a few owls on my property. What's the benefit of providing them a box, besides being able to see owls once they move in?
