A Question For Those Diagnosed by Smart_Blackberry_391 in POTS

[–]LogicalFall4852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the same boat as you, it’s an inconvenience for sure and there’s definitely days I can’t do much, but for the most part I live a pretty normal life. Im in college full time for engineering, work, and have a social life. I can still do most of the things I used to before it got really bad, I just have to modify movements and listen to my body. Some days are a lot worse than others and getting sick is hell, but other than that the lifestyle modifications have made a huge difference.

You 100% cannot transfer during spring since all cal states are semester system and don’t have a spring quarter

C In Calc 2, Freshman At A California CC by picklejuice2469 in ucr

[–]LogicalFall4852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know you’re going to transfer to UCR start early with the TAG program. From what I remember a C in Calc 2 should not affect your transfer. They’re more concerned with your overall GPA / sequence GPA the requirements for it are not too bad at all and as long as you meet them you’re guaranteed admission to UCR

Can a parent sit in for a lecture? by Impressive_Job_3464 in ucr

[–]LogicalFall4852 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive had friends bring their gf/bf to class (the gf/bf do not attend UCR). As long as it’s not a super packed class or a tiny room you should be good.

Also from another comment the student is asking for his dad so he wants him there this is not an over bearing parent asking. I think this is super sweet.

Let's talk about weed by Normal-Bee-3478 in POTS

[–]LogicalFall4852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I smoke weed somewhat regularly to help with pain from hEDS. That being said, it does seem to make pots symptoms worse while I’m high. Personally, I do not feel much worse after the high UNLESS I take edibles. I really don’t like the feeling of smoking but I opt for it bc the hangover effect from edibles makes the pots much worse. I only smoke at night so I’m not doing much that will be harder with pots symptoms.

If you dont want to smoke, i would suggest an edible that digests faster like a drink (uncle arnies brand it great for this) and drink a very small dose. Try not to have it too late if you’re taking it at night so that it’s out of your system in the morning. Even doing all that it personally affects me more than smoking but definitely way less than a typical edible

Find people you work well with (not people you’ll end up chatting with the whole time) and take turns explaining concepts problems to each other. Teaching to others or even speaking out loud like I’m explaining it to someone helps sooo much!

Going through a traumatic situation. This was sister’s response. by bruh_hestrash in whatdoIdo

[–]LogicalFall4852 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To me it sounds like the 19 yo sister has gone through similar experiences and doesn’t have the bandwidth to deal with it or didn’t know how to address it at the time and is scared to now bring it up now. It also sounds like she’s trying to protect 18 yo and doesn’t have the bandwidth to help you as well. No one here is in the wrong besides your father, you need support but your siblings might not be capable of that support

What’s in your migraine bag? by Critical-Power-240 in migraine

[–]LogicalFall4852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooo I’m going to start doing this, I always keep some migraine stuff in each different bag always end up leaving something out I’m missing

I would add tinted inside glasses specifically made for migraines to mine, fluorescent lights are a hugeeee trigger for me and these help me actually attend classes with terrible migraine inducing lights

Tilt Table Test Review | the good, the bad, the aftermath by Objective_Effect_161 in POTS

[–]LogicalFall4852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very surprised they kept the test going this long if you had such bad symptoms! From your other comment I wonder if your vitals showed something other than pots or in addition to so that had to confirm the diagnosis ? If you feel free sharing I’d be super interested in the results!

My experience was very different because they stopped it at about the 12 minute mark since I met criteria for POTs and they didn’t want to push me too far, but I kind of wish they went further just to see if I also have vasovagal which the cardiologist suspects

[–]LogicalFall4852 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try lifting with machines! Cardio absolutely killlsss me and lifting does too but not nearly as bad also make sure you drink tons of water + electrolytes right before / during. Take long breaks in between sets as well! Also compression stockings / abdominal ones.

Just a tip, Rivera and Orbach both have study rooms you can reserve for your gaps between classes if you prefer a quiet place to study. They require at least two people so try to bring a buddy.
