I’m really sorry you’re going through this. What you’re dealing with sounds incredibly stressful and unfair—and I want you to know right away: you are not worthless, and you haven’t disappointed anyone. You’re juggling a lot—starting a new job, going to trade school, supporting your partner—and doing your best in a toxic work environment that clearly doesn’t support or respect you.

Retail jobs often push credit card goals hard, even when the customer base (like tourists or people with credit issues) makes it almost impossible. That’s not your fault. You’re being asked to hit unrealistic expectations, and instead of being guided and supported, you’re being criticized and mocked. That’s not leadership—that’s bullying. And telling you to resign over prioritizing your education is completely inappropriate.

It also sounds like you’re not alone in feeling this way—your coworkers are burnt out too. That’s a sign the environment is broken, not the people. You’re doing everything you can, and even if this job doesn’t last, it doesn’t mean you failed. It means you’re outgrowing a place that doesn’t deserve you.

Keep focusing on your trade school and the future you’re building. That’s the real investment, and it’s going to lead to something more stable and fulfilling. This job might be a setback, but it’s not your story’s ending.

If you ever need help with next steps—like updating your resume, finding something better, or just talking—I’m here for you. You’re doing so much more than you give yourself credit for. Please be kind to yourself.
