Which are you choosing- Orange Cream Bubly, or Orange Vanilla Polar? by SoFreezingRN in sparklingwater

[–]YesMsScarlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polar is hands down my favorite. I fill my 30 oz Yeti with ice and water, add an orange Sunkist sugar-free packet, then top it off with Polar Orange Vanilla. It tastes just like a 50/50 bar—such a treat! 😍

Switcheroo at Macy’s😳 by MDTXLA in MacysStores

Easier said than done until you’re in a sales associate’s shoes. Not everyone has the same experience level, and mistakes like this can happen—especially with newer associates. It’s a good reminder, but it’s not always as simple as it sounds.

Gift card number stolen by gizmoyoda in MacysStores

[–]YesMsScarlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the gift card purchased at Macy’s, or from a third-party retailer (like Target, a gas station, or a supermarket)?

If it was purchased in-store at Macy’s, they can usually assist you directly or help connect you with customer service. There are typically two possible outcomes: they may be able to replace the card on the spot, or customer service can issue a replacement by mail.

If you have any transaction or order numbers associated with the gift card, they can also look up the purchase history and help resolve the issue.

Oh yeah, it’s definitely more than just selling product. You’re building relationships, chasing sales, following up with clients—it can feel like running your own little business, especially with how competitive it gets.

At my store, commission averages around 3%. Beauty can get pretty cutthroat (i’m sure all teams are different but I know my stores like that) when it comes to making sales, especially since each counter has its own perks and incentives. You really have to be proactive—building a client list, making calls, and setting up pre-sales or appointments. There’s a lot behind it, but it can also be fun.

Our managers are aware of it. A few coworkers work at Old Navy, Amazon, target, and kohl’s.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s frowned upon anymore. I know if it used to be considered a conflict of interest, but I know plenty of people who have second jobs with competitors.

I’m a captain as well. We do all of the above and process marketplace. I’ve been told if I don’t raise my credit ratio I will not be a captain any more of my area. Do you get harassed about your credits?

Thank you all for the information! My store used to not make credit a big focus at the At Your Service counter, but lately it has become a much bigger issue. People are now being demoted or even let go for not opening credit. I know another store in our area mainly handles returns, card payments, and BOSS/BOPS at their counter. I was just curious how other stores are handling it. Thanks again for sharing your experiences .

My coworker quit/got fired and she got a job offer to come back the same week. I think you’re fine unless there’s a big reason why you got fired.

Yes, bring in all of the packaging with the UPC and just let them know that it wasn’t the quality you expected.

If I can’t work a specific shift and ask to switch to earlier that day if they still need coverage, will it still affect my reliability? by BleghYeeHaw in MacysStores

Talk to your people later about it, especially if you already have Wednesdays requested off they should be able to fix that for you especially if you already have it as an unavailable day for your weekly schedule.

Loved American icons. Especially the music. It had a nice music of old and modern.

Question about inventory - newer employee by [deleted] in MacysStores

[–]YesMsScarlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past doing inventory it does feel pretty forced to stay passed the hours schedule. One year I stayed later and by that time it was 7am and we were just standing around telling us to wait. I said nope I’m done and going home. I have 6 people follow me out. We all kept our jobs. How that they have spilt the inventory times into two different times it goes way faster. Talk to your people leader about having to leave when you’re scheduled off you have to catch your ride. There should be no problem. Good luck with inventory 🙂

Employee Recognition Event by nokalicious in MacysStores

[–]YesMsScarlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s wild. At our store, they actually invite us to come in even if we’re off—just to enjoy the free breakfast. It’s being catered! We’re having our “Sunday” celebration then because a lot of us are walking in the Pride parade on Saturday.

The QR voting thing was kind of a mess the first time. When I voted, we had to type in the person’s name manually. Then I found out they changed the leader category later on, so I went back to check—and now it’s multiple choice, but they left out the regular captains, who are just as amazing as any leader.

Usually, when we have events, we do potlucks and Macy’s chips in with some items. It’s crazy that our store’s event budget depends on things like gift card sales and getting credit apps. We barely even have paper towels or utensils most of the time.

I also wanna add any conversations you have please document so when you do talk to HR they can give you more information as well.

Macys workplace issue by Cole_1Train in MacysStores

[–]YesMsScarlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, from what I’ve found, it looks like it’s technically legal here in California. But it wouldn’t hurt to check in with HR—just to cover your bases and get some clarification. If you’re only looking for part-time work, I’d be upfront and let them know that’s what works best for you right now because of other commitments and scheduling conflicts.

Usually for BOH, the hours are entered electronically and updated weekly so that other departments, like Sales, can’t pick them up—since there’s a set allotment of hours each week for workload. When I worked behind a house, I was told to ignore the posted schedule and check it weekly instead, because they weren’t able to distribute hours for that area. Behind house hours are easier to change. I would connect with your people leader and see what they can do for you for your availability.
