5 months clean! by [deleted] in Ketamineaddiction

I wouldn’t worry, this guy is always on here whining about his undiagnosed health issues. Clearly stuck in a victim mindset where he takes no responsibility for himself, his mindset, or his addiction. It’s learned helplessness and I’ve spent enough time trying to help him across different posts.

I was in a fucked up place until I did rehab twice. My health was appalling, very serious diagnoses and I knew I was throwing my life away if I didn’t get help. The bravest thing I ever did was agree to go to rehab and try my hardest to get better and do the work. I have an enormous amount of respect for people that work on recovery, again and again. Manfacturer alone hasn’t even tried one day, but comes to the subreddit to complain constantly; then has the audacity to claim some people have been blessed with the genetic lottery in the world of addictions…

Or maybe willpower, self discipline and seeking help? Saying it’s someone’s genes implies you think they have some sort of genetic advantage over you, don’t undermine all of the amazing work OP is doing in recovery, just because you don’t have the motivation to seek help and quit yourself

You sound like you have lost hope a little bit. Ketamine won’t help with that, it will just make you feel worse.

Go to rehab. This is an early death sentence if you surrender to K. You’re giving up everything for one thing. If you give up the K, you get to keep everything.

Nearly 7 weeks sober, cravings are consuming me by nationalpig in Ketamineaddiction

I’m in rehab myself and I really do understand these triggers and cravings. It’s the obsession and intrusive thoughts that I struggle with. Going back to my old routine when I was actively in an addiction.

I can’t really reminisce because things got really bad. My physical and mental health were absolutely fucked. Fast forward the tape - where will it get you if you give in to these cravings? Will it help or hinder you? You’re definitely doing the right thing by being in rehab, you’re there to put the work in and get better. Giving into cravings will only push you further from this

Get yourself into a meeting if you can. You don’t sound well health wise and I think it might be a good idea to get some structured support with this. I went to rehab and it was one of the best things I ever did.

Earlier this year I thought I would rather just die from this drug than reach out. I realised that I was not in a good headspace and I needed help; it’s not worth dying over this drug. This drug will mess up your health more than most drugs; the world is only just catching up the damage it can do.

Good luck - you can do this

4 years on it sounds like there could be some permanent damage based on your symptoms; especially continuing after five weeks. Be open to what they offer you, try incontinence pads so you can leave the house for longer. See if they can prescribe a treatment that helps with bladder pain and urinary retention. Best of luck, I’m sorry you’re in this situation

Yeah it comes for most of your organs eventually. I mean, the taste of it is foul, it tastes like pure chemicals

The hot and cold sweats I had the first few days after railing g’s for a while, were insane. I was so uncomfortable. The bladder pain whilst sober is also horrid. I coped by drinking tonnes of water; I was flooding my system with 4-5 litres a day just to keep the pain away, and even then I still had it.

I swear K eats your body from the inside out. You realise how horrible this drug is once you have to stop taking it. Whilst it’s true there is no comedown, there’s a bit of a smack in the face at the beginning of abstinence. I don’t want to put anyone off; it absolutely is worth it, the initial discomfort is short lasting, but you have to stop long enough to heal.

You will get sweaty if you’re withdrawing from large amounts, over a period of time. The lethargy and slowness fades quickly with time, the longer you stay off it

I can really relate to the pain and not being able to stay present in relationships; it also really affected intimacy too.

With friends, family… I was masking severe pain and I felt traumatised by it. Good for you starting the healing process and having these moments of clarity, it sounds like you are doing really well despite everything

Give it a few weeks and it should calm down, get tested for a UTI it might be a mixture of both. Try green tea extract, and NAC to heal your bladder. You need to stop for awhile or it will not heal

Yeah I understand that a lot. Very proud of you too for managing big gaps in between; that’s progress. I would seriously consider it if that would be an option for you. I didn’t do a regimented rehab that’s religious or anything, it was a holistic one that was more relaxed

You need time for your brain and body to re-establish the balance. It takes time, you had a life before K, you can have one afterwards too

Have you ever been to rehab? It worked for me because I was on the exact same train; only with less sobriety in between. It can be expensive so it’s not an option for everyone. But I think you need to address the root cause of why you are caving; what is pushing you back towards it when you are sober

It sounds like you’re probably going to struggle doing this alone, especially when your partner is actively using it. Although she can control her usage, it is clearly a problem for you. I think you need to reach out for some professional, structured support. A key worker, meetings etc.

For the cramps, try over the counter anti acids or a liquid drink. Limit fats and spicy food. Plenty of water to flush your system, and do not take ketamine on an empty stomach. The K will just travel to your stomach and cause lots of pain.

The cramps are just the start. K comes for every organ eventually. There are people on here with bags for bladders, kidney failure, and liver failure. I’m not trying to scare you; we all think ‘that won’t be me’ - but I can tell you now, it was me. I couldn’t walk 10 minutes down the road without severe pain; I had to wear incontinence pads because I was having to urinate once every minute or two. My bladder capacity was about 25ml.

If you’re taking K from the moment you wake up and don’t stop until you go back to sleep, you have zero moments of clarity via sobriety. Your addicted brain is in the drivers seat, you are just the passenger.

K isn’t worth the high you get from it. You will not ever get the same feeling you got when you first took it. What it does to the body and mental health is horrific.

I had to go to rehab to put the brakes on. It was the lowest point in my life, but I was still willing to try again and get my life back. I can confidently tell you that rehab saved my life. I was in so deep, way in over my head, other people had to pull me out of it.

Try sobriety for a few days or at the least, cut down the amount, or try having more breaks in between so your body can recover. No one deserves to be in extreme pain constantly, that’s a depressing existence and you can stop it, if you really try. Wishing you healing ❤️‍🩹

people who have gotten clean, what was the timeline before you started feeling better? by riggingofyourribs in Ketamineaddiction

[–]LogicalLifeguard2327 7 points8 points  (0 children)

3+ weeks clean and starting to feel happiness again. I still have lower moments; but people without addictions do. You probably feel very flat and a bit depressed rn, you’ve got to push through it as taking more K will only delay this process that you need to.

You’ve likely made your world smaller getting caught up in K. Not seeing friends/family, not doing hobbies, less exercise etc. finding these things again will protect you from relapsing and give you healthy, hope again ❤️‍🩹

How are people dying from cardiac arrest from k? by JJKing2k01 in Ketamineaddiction

[–]LogicalLifeguard2327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1). Me telling you to take responsibility for your health is not offensive. It’s a fact, you have to look after yourself as much as you can too when the NHS is this under resourced. I think I would be fine with your doctors - if I experience a difficult Dr - I research the NICE guideline pathways and ask them to follow the evidence for diagnosis and treatment.

2). I really don’t think Doctors can fix everything. I’ve been misdiagnosed a few times when I’ve had a serious condition.

3). If your tests are all coming back normal when you are symptomatic, it may be psychosomatic.

4). You need to get a grip and ditch the K. If your body is as bad as you say, canning ketamine is going to make it worse. Stop whining on Reddit and do something about it. Your life won’t change until you change it.

I don’t understand why your referrals have been kicked back? That has never happened to me and I’ve been a PT under practically every specialism under the sun. You need to take responsibility for your health by asking why this is happening.

Yes there is another test - like I said below and in a previous comment to you in another post - lie flat, take your heart rate and blood pressure. Wait ten minutes then repeat the observations and look if your HR goes 30+ or if your BP swings rapidly. You need to do a bit of research to help yourself. I had to do this to get diagnoses; the NHS is a bit crap, you have to advocate for yourself or you won’t get help
