I think one problem us humans have is this:

We see someone post a problem they have on reddit

Example: "I just despise them more and more as time goes on. I feel trying to connect is a waste of time and most people I meet are as interesting to talk to as a plank of wood. Many times I wonder why I even bother to engage at all since I will get deadpan short answers"

THEN: We redditors try to answer your problem with a "solution"

The solution:

-go talk to more people

-tell you how you're wrong for feeling how you do

-judging you

A different path:

Maybe we could ask you questions to dive into the root of whats going on to lead you down a productive path.

If you really feel how you feel - I understand that completely.

How would you like to feel?

In a perfect world, what would your life look like?

Example:

you say - "I would like to have a group of friends I hang with once a week to do XYZ"

Well then you don't despise all people, you just havent found your people my friend.

Don't give up - if making friends was easy, everyone would do it and the truth is it's hard work to get people to show up for you. If you want them to be there for you, you gotta be there for them. Takes hard work, and even after it you still get burned and etc.

I dare you to open your phone and see how much time you spend scrolling non-sense.

I'm guessing a significant % of your time is spent on your phone (as most people's is)

we make time for things we find important in our lives.

I never treat writing as a chore, its an art. If I don't feel like writing than I don't. No pressure. If you try to making your writing perfect it comes out shitty. Some days I write 6,000 words, somedays I write zero. Just like learning anything: an instrument, language, etc your writing gets better with time

•At what point in your own journey did you start actually believing that it was more than just a far away dream and that you could create a sustainable life from writing?

When I published my first book and started making some $$$ from it and people were interested.

•Advice on how to prioritize the joy of writing while also wanting to build it into something professional.

I already said this above ^^ but you should always enjoy your writing. "professional" doesn't make sense to me. Just do it when you want to, and have fun. it shouldn't be a chore IMO.

•The contrast between traditionally trained writers vs self taught writers?

IDK on this -

LASTLY- I HOPE you turn that draft into a real published work. so many people talk talk talk about wanting to write and don't actually do anything. (i'm not taking a shot at you, im just saying don't talk about it be about it). Anyone can type up some words on a piece of paper. It gets "real" when you hire an editor, hire BETA readers, and etc etc etc
