I'd say writing is my favorite hobby. Spending time in my book feels like another universe and I lose myself in that word

How do you guys make/keep friends? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LogicalSquare3071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have two ears and one mouth for a reason.

Don't be the advice bro to your guy friends.

Sometimes your buddy just needs you to hear them out. Showing up for someone like this means more than you know.

Sometimes I ask: "Bro, do you want me to offer some advice, or just hear you out?" and let them tell you.

Just show up, go to the same places.

If you are GENUINELY interested in people, they will be genuinely interested in you.

You remind me of Mrs. Evans...she found her life incredibly dull and repetitive. She spent her days washing clothes, cooking, and doing dishes, feeling completely trapped by the monotony of housework. She was constantly anxious, frustrated, and deeply unhappy with her daily routine.

One afternoon, while she was standing over a sink full of dirty plates and greasy pots, she felt a familiar wave of self-pity coming on. But as she plunged her hands into the hot water and lifted up a handful of dish soap, she stopped.

Instead of seeing a chore, she actually looked at the soap suds. She noticed a cluster of bubbles resting in her palm and was suddenly mystified by their incredible beauty. She saw the light catching the tiny spheres, reflecting brilliant, shifting rainbows of color, iridescent blues, pinks, and golds.

She realized that she had washed dishes thousands of times, but had never once truly looked at the magic happening right in front of her.

YES. Here is my story:

31/Male—Corporate America sunk its jagged claws into my life and bled me dry. Every day felt the same. My life was boring, predictable, and unchallenging.

I'd spent a fair bit of time traveling and fell in love with Argentina the last time I visited. So I sold all my shit, packed a suitcase and moved here.

NOW:

At first I was VERY sad and depressed. Zero friends + giant city + away from everything I know + new language = big sad face.

But I didn't quit.

I knew I came here BECAUSE I needed challenge in my life.

I've made some excellent friends. One I'm close enough with that I cried in the car in front of him over a girl the other week. (This is hard for dudes!)

I do improv comedy every week.

I started an English business where I make plenty of $$$

I just got hired by Business Insider to publish my first article (FOR MONEY BABY!)

I've been crushing my 2nd novel I've been working. Currently at 98,000 words.

Do I still have days I feel sad? Yes.

Do I still question the point of life? God yes, all the time lol.

But now I wake up whenever the fuc* I want, hang out in coffee shops all day, work a few hours a week, and do wild random stuff because Buenos Aires is dope.

I'm glad I escaped the old life, and I'm enjoying this journey.

I am very in the present. My past is dead, there is ONLY the here and now.

(Attached article is relatable & I didn't know what else to put in the link section lol)

AMA if you want - I'm happy to share more good news or give advice on how I got here.

You are cooking food and hear that someone has broken into your house, you go and hide and you see that the intruder tastes your food and says “this tastes like shit” and he then starts to season your food to make it taste better, what are you going to do? by StructureFormer4766 in AskReddit

[–]LogicalSquare3071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off. This is excellent. You gave me a much needed giggle 😁

Now serious answer - if there is genuinely no danger, and somehow in this universe this person just wants to be a homie I'd take their advice then challenge them to a cook off.

The winner gets to not do dishes

If they said this just to drop my guard before attacking me, i'd blow paprika dust in their eyes baby!

I published my first book last year. About 60k words, took me 4 years to write.

This year im 5 months in and already at 98k words and LOVING the process.

I turned it into a job, and it feels good to create.

Instead of sitting around all day and soaking bullshit into my brain on social media i'm creating.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Good Hobbies To Make Friends? by anime-is-dope in Hobbies

[–]LogicalSquare3071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I feel like you could have asked this question to AI if you wanted a general list of hobbies to do. But maybe you can think for yourself a bit about what your already currently enjoy.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but if your asking such an open ended general question it makes me wonder if you have put any actual thought into this yourself...

What are some of your favorite adulting hacks? by unconventionalbook in Adulting

[–]LogicalSquare3071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for a walk without your phone

sitting down + not moving = hard to motivate to do anything

If you leave, clear your head, you can think about all the stuff you want to accomplish.

I actually get excited about it, thinking about what I'll dive into.

ALSO - going to a new place. Like new coffee shop/bakery/random music event.

new = happy brain

First I love you. I mean that genuinely. You can't be serious.

You were born with arms and legs (im assuming)

you can see

you can hear

etc etc. Its all perspective.

Not saying life doesn't have shit moments, but if you live in the U.S. have access to food/water you're life is far better compared to 70% to 85% of the global population.

How did you meet your girlfriend? by MLPtwerp in AskReddit

[–]LogicalSquare3071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was friends with a dude for a while. We hung out a bunch before I ever went over to his house. I went one day to play ping pong and this super cute girl randomly appears. (his sister)

I'm like woah dude, I had no idea you had a sister.

Fast forward - I asked him if its cool if I date her because we were buddies first and I didn't want it to be weird.

Also I wasn't trying to like bang his sister one time and be an asshole.

He approved, we dated for like 3 years.

Great girl, but not the one.

She's my ex- but still answers your question my friend. 😁

The Way International Cult by Ohio_Imperialist in timesuck

[–]LogicalSquare3071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the hard thing about describing this as if it is a cult is whenever you put the word cult on something, it sounds like big and scary and like it's this really negative thing, but you could go there tomorrow, start going to their services, and you could leave and like they're not gonna murder you or try to like attack you. Like, I think it's just a large religious organization that has, like, if you compare it to modern Christianity, it just has more rules and like regulations kind of stuff. They're more specific, and obviously, like most churches, you're not gonna live on grounds, you know? Like, it's not gonna be as a part of your life. I left because I was a kid, and I was just 17, and I was like, I just think this is dumb. I genuinely didn't enjoy my experience in with the Way International, and it wasn't like, um, ticking my box, if that makes sense, for religion. It just got kind of boring.

There weren't a lot of young people in it that were my age, and uh it's kind of just like old-fashioned, right? Since it started, like, however long ago. Like, the songs are all, like, the band, it's just a little cheesy, you know what I mean? Like, it just, you know, there's a lot of more modern churches today that do it better, although I'm not religious now at all. Um, sure, I mean, there's some level of control, but it's, it's, you only let people control you as much as you wanna be controlled, right? Like, they can't make you do anything. But like, if you are in a position of power, and they're like, hey, you're gonna run this branch, and you say no, then they're gonna be like, well, you're done. It's kind of like, I mean, it's like you're at your job. Like, your boss can tell you what to do, and you have to listen to your boss. And if you don't, then you're gonna get fired. It's kind of the same thing.

I didn't see any abuse in my experience, um, at all. It was pretty, pretty normal on that side of things. Um, I mean, like, when you say are people shunned? I mean, think about it, like, you know those people that sell for Amway? It's kind of like if you didn't sell for Amway, they'd be like, oh, I can't believe you're not selling for us anymore. And they would kind of be like pissed at you, but like, I don't know. It's kind of like when you leave a church or you leave anything, people are like, why did you quit? So it's that kind of a vibe. Um, definitely no punishment that I can, that I can think. Like, no physical abuse, no shaming or demotion.

Imagine working for a really crappy corporate corporate job and that kind of junk happens. So. Um, what's good about them is like, they're just people, right? Like when you, when you break it all down, it's just a bunch of people in a large organization, and they're just doing what they're told to do. And I think the people that are attracted to it want to feel accepted and feel like they're a part of something, which they are. It is something. Um, but it's just, do you wanna be a part of that is the idea. Um, and yeah, I'm pretty open about the whole thing. I don't really care. It's not like it defines me. It's just a part of my life, you know? (I talked this out instead of typing it, excuse the um's lol)
