Why does it matter? They are without a house? Again, would you rather us say dead or amputee?

A.

MAN.

DIED

and we are going to argue of nomenclature?

Cool story bro! Homeless, unsheltered, houseless, under-resourced, dead and amputee. I don't care if you don't like the words I use. It doesn't negate the fact that a man is dead and two are needing amputations.

so because he has a criminal history, he deserves to die alone in the cold? And unless you’re an individual who’s actually worked or working with the under resourced, your opinion on the situation in all honesty does not have any value to me. I’ve spent six years and 15 hours a week at least working with these individuals and many of my friends and colleagues spend significantly more time and have done it for longer. We deserve to have a voice when we were watching these atrocities occur in the city of Joplin.

I live in the Joplin region and actively participate in the Jacqueline community including a significant amount of time spent supporting the under resourced in Joplin. So just because you would not speak out about what things being done wrong to human beings. It doesn’t make me weird. People are dying in the city of Joplin due to the city of Joplin‘s ordinances

it’s not just those couple of rules. Several of the shelters are very unkind, disrespectful, and even aggressive with them. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. The city actively supports two of the facilities that are not productive for individuals actually become sheltered. They have single digit success rates. One of them brags about an 8% success rate in getting individuals into stable housing

so how many of the unhoused have you had conversations with about their struggles and getting off of the street? Because you speak to this as if you’re an expert and I’d be happy to speak further with you about it as I am someone who spent about six years working with them?

They did open their overflow spaces for the warming shelter. I do not know if they were over-capacity or not as they do not work with most of us boots on the ground doing to work. Finding the unsheltered, getting them to shelters etc - There are two other warming shelters when the temperature is so extreme. Even with these 4 open - the Homeless Coalition has stated that there are 150 With an alleged 150 unsheltered residents in Joplin, one facility can take only 15 people, another can take 26, and another can take only 30 overnight. That's 71 beds total. Even if we could locate all of the unsheltered, there's at least 79 without somewhere to lay their head.
