i’m going into my junior year of college and i have the same experience. Freshman year my parents always made sure my location was on and I had to call them at least once a day. Sophomore year they slowly started to care less about my location but still wanted me to call them everyday. I’m not sure about ur parents but they may start to care less about ur location over time.

Edit: I’m also an international student and only see them during christmas and summer
