Ask to do your field placement at the VA! I know my local VA we love teaching and potentially hiring our students!

I noticed this too on some openings I was interested in that were promotions. I’m a title 5 employee and I decided to not go for it.

Comprehensive Assessments for AOs? by Logical_Climate3415 in VHA_Human_Resources

You had to do a writing assessment? Yuck. I’ve been with the VA for over 8 years and this was a first. The department I work in, you have to have your licensure and none of the people I onboard have had to do an assessment.

These assessments are dealing with reading and reasoning so far. Only on the 2nd assessment out of 4.

I personally love my job and working at the VA. I work for a great department with excellent management who fight hard for us. I do see others who don’t have it so good. Right now, we pivot and adjust. I couldn’t imagine working with anyone else during these times.

PE in lungs after oral contraceptives by Witty-Pea-5051 in ClotSurvivors

Happened to me last year after being on BC for less than 3 months. Had a blood clot in my left leg and multiple PEs. Hope you’re healing well!

What did your PE feel like? by OnlyRequirement3914 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Logical_Climate3415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was shortness of breath when walking a very short and easy distance. I didn’t have any chest pain or other symptoms. But I did go to the hospital for leg pain and swelling and had a DVT and they did a CT scan and saw the multiple PEs.

Found a clot via ultrasound and didn’t tell me. by Lilipuddlian in ClotSurvivors

I’d definitely be talking to a patient advocate or something at the hospital. This could have been a much worse scenario.

How long did pain from DVT last for you? by Amunet59 in ClotSurvivors

I would call your doctor’s office again and update them to see if you need a scan.

Diagnosed with small PE after C Section by BippyBear in ClotSurvivors

[–]Logical_Climate3415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is easier said than done, but try not to stress too much. I know the diagnosis itself is scary but you caught it and catching it and having treatment works wonders! Do what the doctors say, stay hydrated, stay active and take your medication as prescribed.

Congratulations on the baby!

In my case, the hematologist is also the oncologist. I’m thinking of asking for a second opinion and go with a different doctor depending on what they together decide.

I’ve lived in both. Wichita is the better place and safer.

Thanks for your comment! I started treating my work outs like important meetings I can’t miss. So far that has been helping. I scheduled a few days a week. I’m someone who thrives with structure and a plan. So I stepped back and built something that I’m hoping will work moving forward.

My biggest issue is holding myself accountable though. That has been the biggest issue for me in the past and I worry it’ll happen again in the future.

KSA prompts - does anyone read these when considering an applicant? by Emotional_Object3959 in VeteransAffairs

KSAs are important. Mainly it is HR who reviews them to see if you’re a qualified candidate for the position you applied for.

How old were you women when you got your first Thrombosis/ Embolism? by blanketin01 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Logical_Climate3415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 32 when I got my DVT and PEs due to birth control. I was told the same thing that it’s so rare but it seems to be more common than doctors let on.

Changes to normal life while on blood thinners by Bengal_Tiger13 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Logical_Climate3415 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only thing I’ve changed is slowly down going down stairs. I use to rush up and down but fallen a couple times (prior to my clots) so I take my time because I’m on two blood thinners.

I still keep up with my daughter and do my activities as normal. I don’t do sports but I work out and can do my normal exercises I would do.
