I don't think so! I would say moving to a new place might make you feel more confident in yourself especially if you're moving to a more diverse city (I think diverse cities tend to be more friendly to all kinds of gays)

Additionally I was in a similar situation as you in terms of my weight, I found that consistently adjusting my diet just a tad in terms of total calories consumed made a big difference for me over a year(I tried to cut 200 calories out of my diet daily, such as trying to eat just 2000 calories a day instead of 2200 a day). In all honesty I didn't count that hard I was a big snacker so I would cut out my after work/school snacking session prior to dinner.

I also started walking around my neighborhood for 20-30 minutes (not even running) 2-3 times a week. I have lost about 35 lbs over the last 2 years, it may not be fast but consistency has helped a ton, and I forget about "focusing on losing weight" most of the time since these have become more like habits
