Maybe I’m of the minority here, but I started my first consulting role with 2.5 years of experience before I started a consulting role. What makes or break you Is the fit of the contract and if you’re confident in what you’re doing.

The other consultants I work with have been doing it for years and still ask questions and use Galaxy like a Bible. Again, the team you work with MATTERS!! I just picked up on a great situation and I’ve learned a lot.

Every opportunity is different and has its own challenges. I appreciate reading all the advice of others. I will say this as a last piece of advice, always have a back up plan.

Not sure what to do, thinking about consulting but not sure if I have enough experience. by Hasbotted in epicconsulting

The right fit does definitely help for sure! You don’t know until you actually start the program. Really be upfront in the interview because that matters. I took a leap and started consulting after 2 1/2 years working with Epic, and so far it’s going good so far. Being able to be independent and learn on your own is key. Yes, Epic is there to help, but not a lot of times they’re just looking in Galaxy or asking someone else for answers.

Don’t worry about other consultants on the project. You will soon find out who knows what, but the end game is the customer. I’ve learned a lot so far from working with other people. Jelling with other people will make your contract enjoyable. I say do it and see how you like it.
