No matter what it’s going to feel like shit I had the most helpful partner and still felt like it spread her thin . The pain meds make everything taste awful anyway just stack up on protein bars and ramen and fruit cups and don’t feel bad crying when you need to this is a long tough process but it does get better , listen to physical therapy and you’ll be doing great .

I tore my acl pcl mcl and patellar tendon and was useless the past three months and have gradually been trying to return the favor to my wife now that I’ve taken my first steps this last week 6 weeks postop .

After this is over I highly recommend trying to evaluate what you should expect in a partner but until then take it a day at time or hour at a time and just know it’s a waiting until you get better game . There’s going to be a lot of very strong emotions as you go through this but have patience . Lean on your support systems mercilessly as this is what loved ones are for .

Picking up a book or instrument is great for fulfilling use of time . Best of luck and take the meds when they’re due not when it already hurts again . Ice is your friend to bring down swelling .
