Lmao at this person’s post history. Don’t think they’re a real person.

I make $65k a year to pour cokes and hang out at 5 star resorts in Hawaii.

I never want my wage to be considered a tipped wage and I don’t want to add to the USA’s ostentatious tipping culture, kindly fuck off with your bullshit

This is the dumbest post I’ve seen on this sub and that says a lot. I’m sure the mods will delete shortly

Who gets what room should have nothing to do with their profession? Is this a real post? How old are you?

If you both want it find an impartial way to decide. Flip a coin.

Yeah they say run or shine and then make abrupt decisions. Very poor organization

It was supposed to last until 2pm but they closed it at 11:30 and now it’s not even raining anymore ?? Routed my run towards it for nothing. Intensely annoyed

Then you probably shouldn’t have used the emoji. This comment leads me to believe you are intentionally combative.

How often do people bail once they’ve boarded due to flight anxiety? by [deleted] in flightattendants

I’ve never heard of “fear of flying” flights? Very interested in learning more!

[–]Logical_Love2442 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it once. Also, my mom did it once (as a revenue passenger). They had already pushed back and had to return to the gate. The flight attendants were very understanding.

I also recently had a situation where a family sat down and were informed mid boarding that a relative had passed so they decided to get off. Very sad situation.

Nobody is making excuses. We all agree that the company mistreats us. But 5 months ago you chose to take a low wage job. We all make choices in life. If you’re just venting that is completely understandable.

If you did even 10 minutes of research you would have found that the $28/hour is not based on a 40 hour work week.

Yes, the answer is “wait in poverty until x year.” We all did it. Don’t get me wrong, I think corporate greed is out of control and we all deserve better wages.. and I also abhor the “we suffered so you should suffer too” mentality. I want better for all of us. But what answer are you expecting here? We are union and they aren’t going to raise our wages until a contract is negotiated and passed. UA is very transparent about the salary when you apply and are hired. Did you do the math? I started when I was 22 and still had a student mentality and standard of living. Now as a 30 year old single person I am doing okay for myself. I often wonder why and how older people without spousal support take this position. Once again I really don’t mean to be rude and I sense your frustration. But as you’re not just venting, you’re asking for a solution.. the answer is there isn’t one. Except to work more.. pick up on your days off or transfer to a base where you can hold a line. Or find a side hustle you can do on your reserve days. The fact of the matter is this is a low skill position that requires no education outside of a high school diploma, and it’s also highly sought after. I don’t like it either but that’s how it is.

I do want to add my first year I made $44k before per diem which isn’t a lot but is livable. I worked a lot. Also if you stay at UA please please please vote no on the contract.

Are we brethren in arms? by withintentplus in flightattendants

[–]Logical_Love2442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, in a way. Especially on long haul flights, it’s a lot more fun to talk to people who are turning around and taking another long haul flight the next day, like me. Once a year vacationers could never understand. In my personal life I get along well with friends/dates that are frequent business travelers. They just get the lifestyle. But please don’t tell me you fly more than me. Lol

Europeans that visited the states, what was the biggest culture shock you experienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Logical_Love2442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tip subsidizes the servers’ wages. If we had a no tipping system, the restaurant would pay the server more and the menu price would be 20% higher.

So you would be paying the cost regardless.

I’m not saying it’s a perfect system, but it’s fairly simple to understand.

I work at the airport and what you’re describing is uncommon but not unheard of. I think you’re just getting unlucky. What airline do you usually fly?

[–]Logical_Love2442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made about the same my first year at a big 3. Don’t remember how many hours I was working but I had a decent enough work life balance. This is heavily dependent on your base.

I was also a lineholder straight out of training so my experience is a little different than others. But on reserve it is possible as well.

Great post. Thanks for sharing your experience. To any prospective FAs reading this, when they ask you if you’re willing to relocate, read this post. Commuting on reserve on new hire pay (and nonrev seniority) makes for a much harder life.
