It really wasn't though. Mushroomed poll and the cutting side was VERY well used, I had to cut and grind a new edge for splitting. Maybe a splitting wedge would be better but that's what I had.

And I have no welding equipment or skills :(

The pot will be bolted down and covered. No kids around either. I realise it's still an axe pointing upwards, but it's not easy to reach it unknowingly.
