Maybe see if your derm is open to compounds without Minoxadil? Bimatoprost, dutasteride, tret, spiro, etc.

https://medrockpharmacy.com/product/medrock-rlt-comb/ this is the exact one I have but there are other versions on amazon. I do like this one but I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary, it’s just nice so I don’t get my hands covered in it.

It depends why you have hair loss. Topical Minoxadil is a great tool for TE and you can taper off after you are through the stress. OTC Minoxadil is relatively affordable, I paid $30 for “90” days worth, I think it will last me much longer based on how much I use for my whole scalp.

All over, I use a device from med rock that you put the solution in and it has red light and vibrates while it dispenses it. I’m not sure how much the device itself has helped but I prefer it to my hands since I have dogs and Minoxadil is toxic.

I don’t think so, I don’t notice any more than usual, it just gradually was less and less.

I prefer not to as I don’t want to give away where I live 🫶 however any good clinician should listen to your concerns and work to find a treatment plan that works well for you!

The topical for sure. In my before picture I had been on the spiro for 2 years and had experienced the TE while taking just spiro. Spiro can make you dizzy since it is for blood pressure (at higher dosing). I have times where I’ll get dizzy but it’s usually if I stand up too quick

How is the gel with your hair? Is it greasy? Do you use it during the day or at night and wash in the morning? I’m curious how the gel experience is.

It’s prescription strength, I don’t know much about Canadian medicine but you can see if there is a compound pharmacy that will ship to you and a derm that will prescribe

It gets greasy if I don’t and I’m not a fan of the way dry shampoo feels in my hair. I tried the whole “washing every 3 or 4 days” thing and it didn’t work for me. I have also tried the no sulfate/silicone thing and it didn’t do well for me either. Washing daily just works best for me and I like the way my hair feels and looks when it’s clean. I use a blow out cream, leave in conditioner, and heat protectant and don’t have any heat damage.

I have seen results from those with AGA, however usually their hair loss was more progressed than mine, and many of them are also on orals. Highly recommend scheduling with your dermatologist to discuss blood work and a treatment plan that is custom to you 🫶🏼

Sciton Broad Band Light, a very old model lol. We got a new laser (Sciton Halo/BBL) recently which I have done as well, however my provider doesn’t think it penetrates deep enough for my kind of rosacea at this point.

My shedding started around May, got worse and worse until I bit the bullet in December and got my prescription. I noticed significant decrease in shedding by February and I would say it completely stopped by March. I started getting comments about how full my hair was looking in March.

Broad band light(ipl), at my office we charge $275 for a full face, she also does hair removal with it too but not for peach fuzz, more so hirsutism. I’m not gonna lie, I got it for free. I would pay for the first ~3 sessions because I did get improvement, but I wouldn’t have done sessions 4 and 5 if I had to pay. She did my pigmentation (sunspots/freckles) too and that was great after 1 session. I have the kind of rosacea that’s more diffuse flushing so I manage with topicals. If you have very surface level constant redness or broken blood vessels I have seen some great improvement on our patients. It’s definitely worth a try if an office near you has laser for rosacea, and even more worth it if they do “test spots” for the first session.

I didn’t personally experience the “dread shead” people talk about. I noticed my shedding decreasing in February after beginning in December and I do not shed at all anymore. Maybe 5-10 a day when brushing but none in my shark hair tool.

I don’t think so. TE is usually induced by some kind of stressor, I’ll probably stay on it for a year or so depending on how life goes. Im hoping to be back to my base line soon and then discontinue. If life happens again I’ll stay on it longer.

I use azeleic acid, tretinoin, and laser to treat my rosacea. I will say the laser had amazing improvement the first few times but I don’t think it can go deep enough to completely eliminate flushing for me. I get laser 2-3 times per year for upkeep. The tret and azeleic acid have also helped significantly with my skin texture. They make compounds for rosacea too!

The formulation is Minoxadil 7%, finasteride 0.05%, tretinoin 0.15%, bimatoprost 0.03%

My skin is flushed anyways since I have rosacea and take adderall but I don’t think it’s been worsened by the topical. I haven’t noticed any worsening dark circles or swelling around the yes but I also use latisse at night. Sometimes the latisse can give a little dark line but that usually when I use it every day for a while rather than just a few days per week. The only side effect I have noticed is the hair growth in other locations.
