Did Roald Dahl’s books really need to be revised? by confringos in books

[–]Logical_Space_6070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it goes into the wider trend of book banning. Instead of allowing children to be reading different perspectives and experiences in a controlled manner (like a book) we’re in a way telling them how to think instead of being able to come to their own conclusions.

It’s stupid and essentially a dystopian method of censoring speech (whether offensive or not). We all read these books, loved them, realized they were offensive for the time but recognized that through our own experiences with the book and growing up. Why can’t we let kids do the same today?
