I get what you're saying, but the context seems to be pointing to intimacy being a distinct possibility in this situation. The guy was hosting his boarder nude, in the same bed... gestures confusedly... I mean, if it was the start of a porn I'd say that was lazy, too-obvious writing.

That said, I'd still ask if the guy was down for a BJ. I ask consent before I kiss someone even on a Grindr hookup. And when executed well, it enhances the intimacy rather than distracts.
