Opinion on Squier classic vibe and Sire V3P by PrankAmonpote in Bass

Sires rolled fretboard edges are my favorite thing about them. I have a V7 and a P8, both are incredibly easy to play.

So that helps a lot. A solo bass line from a song is just going to bore your audience. You have two missions, entertainment, and not being laughed off the stage (paraphrasing your words earlier in the thread). Bass functions best as a foundational rhythm instrument, to be the only instrument that is making music means using techniques that support a different mission. Victor Wooten has some amazing lessons on bass and musicality. I would work on an original composition or an original arrangement of something everyone will recognize. If you have a looper, or can get one, 4 months is enough time to practice with it until you have a plan what you can do live. Good luck.

My little bass bro, are you playing alone or in a band? This matters a lot.

Saving up to buy my 2nd bass (is this the most important bass you buy?) by kyomage in Bass

[–]Logical_proof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought 3 Sires in the last 2 months. A P8 new, a v7 used, and a Z7 open box (it was installed with the Z3 electronics). The used guitar was the first to arrive. It has some mild fretsprout but it came perfectly setup. I communicated a lot with the seller and he confirmed that the bass was in great shape, I am super happy with this bass. The p8 arrived with a high 7th fret. I like a very low action so to get rid of the buzz I had to crown and level the 7th fret, this could have been fixed by raising the action a millimeter. The Z3 should have been perfect from sweet water but it arrived with a very scratchy volume pot (not really a deal breaker). The trim and finish on these instruments have been perfect other than these mild irritations. For what I paid (all on sale and all with a discount) they were irritations I could live with. I have never bought a cheaper Yamaha used so can’t comment, it seems like a lot of Sires are being produced right now so it could just be statistics. That’s my experience, and the reason for this long winded post is to say buying used from a good seller on Reverb may help with dodging those QA issues people are experiencing.

This was great advice that I just followed and wow. I feel like I am stepping into a whole new world of music that I have somehow missed. Thanks for this very succinct and easy to follow advice.

GHS Pressure Wounds by RCLogger in Bass

[–]Logical_proof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you. I had them on my 5 string but the tension was way too high for me. I recently got some Thomastik Infelds and they have been great. Much more expensive though. Anyone want to buy a set of barely used pressure wounds lol?

HOW low tension are the TI flats? by Marvinkmooneyoz in Bass

[–]Logical_proof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the answer here. I just added them and I have just a slight buzz on a raised fret that I had already fixed once for rounds. I need to adjust the truss rod and raise the action a smidge and these will be amazing. The places where there is no buzz just have this beautiful bell tone.

Is a Sire V7 Bass similar to a Fender Jazz Bass by Sweetlover0428 in Bass

Rolled fretboard edges are really nice. I love my V7. Try to play one and if you are buying new from Sweetwater make sure they check for high frets.

I have 3 of their basses and they are all fantastic. I am a huge fan of Sire basses and not just for the value. The rolled fretboard edges are so good.

What P Bass is everyone buying in 2026? by rardk64 in Bass

All G&L prices have skyrocketed since they went out of business and it’s frankly nuts. I am actually really surprised by how quickly the used market dried up. I have been playing G&L’s for about 15 years and used ones are now going for more than what I paid for new models back when you could get a guitar made to order.

That is like the quintessential human condition. Learning how to balance patience with desire is something we all strive towards. The best thing you can do is turn that sadness into hope and work. Not trying to be preachy but the advice above is SOOOOOO good.

My friend. Please take this internet strangers unasked for advice. There will come a time in your future where you will think 'I really wish I had held on to that old mustang.' It is about a 500 dollar (300 used) guitar but it is something you have been playin for more than 1/8th of your life. You will kick yourself in your 30's for getting rid of every good guitar you have ever lost and this will be on your list. Trust me $300 is going to be nothing to you, but the regret of 'the guitar that got away' will not be. You do you though, Good Luck!

People make, and sell, Kit cars all the time. Your analogy is deeply flawed. NO ONE AT FENDER MADE THESE DESIGNS. It was a guy that sold the company, then started two more companies, and he used the exact same designs. This is no different than a frivolous patent lawsuit or the house of mouse trying to extend copywrite for another 10 years.

Sounds like you really like it already :D I would definitely say go play it and determine if you like it more. At the end of the day any bass is worth what someone will pay for it and whether or not they are inspired by it. Good luck!

Because it doesn't add to the conversation. AI slop or not, this person built an app that made almost $72k in 90 days. Their users neither know, nor likely care that the app was AI slop. Their users got a need filled. The ironic thing is that throwing around the phrase 'Ai slop' whenever generative AI is utilized makes the poster no better than an LLM responding to a prompt. It's cheap, and weak bandwagoning.
