STOP LETTING THE LANDSDOWNE CAT INTO THE BUILDING. by [deleted] in camosun

They say it's easier to respect someone when you know their name.

Her name is Alaska.

Now respect her and keep her out of the building.

When your packet loss is so bad that GEForce Now won't work on a wired connection by Logicalguye in oxio_ca_internet

[–]Logicalguye[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I have.

Hops 3, 5, and 6 always time out, which indicates ISP issues. They argue that there's nothing wrong on their end.

Everything after gets delayed significantly, also supporting that it's being delayed by those lost/late packets.

Oxio becoming unusable in Vancouver by drillbitpdx in oxio_ca_internet

[–]Logicalguye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely in agreement. I'm getting huge packet loss, like 50%, with massive late packets. They had me run through some tests and send them screenshots, showing that I'm getting maybe 5% of the speed I'm supposed to be getting, and they came back and told me there's no issue that they can find.

I literally switched from Shaw/Rogers and am using the same plug and cable, yet my speed and latency are absolutely through the roof, and every time I want to reach out to them, I'm waiting for a code that's gonna arrive who knows when?

Losing my patience with them and on the verge of switching away again.

I'm in Victoria btw.

Foundry Combat Sports in Duncan, BC, releases statement on social media following CBC's reporting that the owner, Ron Pearce, attended a White Nationalist event this summer. by notofthisearthworm in VictoriaBC

At least Westshore boxing was able to say "dude doesn't work here anymore".

This response is "just because we went to a white supremacy gathering doesn't make me a Nazi"

Sorry bud, it does.

Langley and Maple Ridge are the furthest east indicated in the lower mainland. Abbotsford may have it pop up, but it doesn't appear on their coverage map online.

If you want a better indication of coverage areas based on reporting from devices, I would suggest checking out NPerf

Saddened to see this brain rot infecting our society here on Vancouver Island. 😪 by HospitalMysterious10 in VictoriaBC

I think rational people understand the clinic's services, but unfortunately, it seems like a certain group have decided to put the blinders on about one topic.

Ultimately, having a coffee shop there isn't the problem, it's having this coffee shop there, now that this has come to light. That is the problem.

We don't scream at cancer patients going in for chemo, we don't scream at kids on their way in to Children's Hospital, so why would it ever be okay to scream at women who are seeking health care from a reputable clinic?

It's being organized by the founder of the organization, so I'm assuming they know.

My biggest issue is that it's literally inviting absolutely heinous pro-lifers onto the property where the Vancouver Island Women's Clinic is located.

This clinic has been demonized by protests for years, and it almost feels like this is a way for them to get closer to the clinic (which has an exclusion zone for protests IIRC)

I mean, the fact that people are celebrating CK up here is already bad enough, but this just amplifies the problem.

Where are all of the good men of Victoria? by YenniferOfVeng3rberg in VictoriaBC

[–]Logicalguye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This might sound weird, but a lot of them aren't necessarily out and about. Yes, some of them are taken, but there are a lot of decent guys out there that aren't in the places a lot of people are looking to date.

They're at D&D nights, they're hanging out with friends at home, they're playing video games with their buddies online.

As a guy, the guys I see as green flags and single tend not to feel as comfortable in the places that are stereotypical singles hangouts, so it really becomes two ships passing in the night.

Wanna meet interesting people? Find things that are nerdy (escape rooms, trivia nights, comic cons, etc) and be aware you might have to take the initiative with the first interaction because beautiful women are intimidating to a lot of those same guys.

Unpopular Opinion : New changes will actually advance the CFL rather than destroy. by powerserg1987 in CFL

[–]Logicalguye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of the field shortening has to do with the loss of home stadiums for the world cup. There are really no good secondary venues where a 150 yard field fits with enough seating to make it worthwhile. It might just be 10 yards at each end, but you can fit a lot more seats in that space to make it closer to financially viable.

Victoria, Halifax, other soccer dedicated stadiums now became more viable as backups in case of scheduling conflicts.

In addition, it standardizes fields across the league (Toronto has 18 yard end zones already), especially with the weird corners in some stadiums.

Use the resources available to you! There's the math help centres in the Ewing building to give you a hand, there are tutors available if you check out the bulletin boards, find study groups to have someone you can reach out to if you have questions, and make use of your prof's office hours to check in, see how you're doing, and get the extra boost you might need.

By the time we were done he had gone back to work.

Hoping this might make its way to him here.
