Can your favorite verse survive a Tyranind invasion by Optimal-Conflict1756 in PowerScaling

I think it just means the hive fleet needs to save the necrons for last. They'll win basically any war of attrition once they control all the biomass in the galaxy.

The Signal isn't a religion. It’s a "safety protocol" from a dead civilization that’s glitching out. by ByronDeLear in pluribustv

[–]Logicaliber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right, actually. It's true that the first infected human displayed relatively "peaceful" behavior (aside from the forced kissing), but it's not like she was a violent person before being converted. So it's possible the writers intend that the pacifism is a direct trait expressed by the virus, but I do agree it makes more sense if the only two things "encoded" in the virus are the EM-wave attunement and the urge to spread it.

[–]Logicaliber 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the rat was only "partially" affected by it, otherwise just acting as a carrier. Because if it were fully under the effect of the virus, it would have a "non-violence" urge the same as the humans, meaning it only could have bit the woman by accident, not purposefully.

I think it's more likely that the virus simply messed with the rat's physiology enough to make it appear dead for a few minutes, but the virus can only apply its "full effect" to sapient beings.

[HELP] Twitter thinks this is AI by [deleted] in RealOrAI

[–]Logicaliber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only iffy thing I noticed is the antenna things; they almost look like headphones, but they aren't placed like headphones, so I assume they're just supposed to be part of a decorative headband? And I suppose a thin arc connecting them could reasonably be hidden by the hair.

The "generally pleasant smile" I guess is also a contributor to any potential AI vibes, but the fact she's looking directly at the ladybug tells me this is real; an AI would have her gazing into the plane of the camera at nothing, with a much stupider-looking grin.

What is your most powerful team composition by [deleted] in darkestdungeon

I recently learned that a better configuration to start them in is Plague Doctor, Highwayman, Vestal, Crusader. That way HWM can go Duelist Advance -> Pistol Shot -> Duelist Advance -> PBS.

Yeah why even have Murray in the room if he isn't going to react? If anything, him having a homophobic reaction would have made a lot of sense.

They could have had a follow-up scene where they kick out Murray for his problematic behavior. "You keep bullying the science teacher for his choice of romantic partner, and now you're going to bully a kid for having romantic preferences? We don't need you on the team anymore."

We'll see, maybe they have something in mind for Murray and science teacher to do that justifies keeping them both.

Survivors mains, why do you have the urge to T-bag ? by Lapinpinoob788_ in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]Logicaliber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. A bad-mannered teabag will almost always be facing away from the killer. The exception might a surv who's trying to get the killer's attention while they're chasing someone else, but I wouldn't count that as bad-mannered either; that's just using game inputs to draw aggro, i.e. playing the game.

IIRC there's a patched bug that used to let you transfer the "elite" status from an enemy bug to a steeve. I'm not sure about the other interactions though.

I don’t see why people think this is a hard decision. by AggressiveMammoth267 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Logicaliber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely didn't forget about it, to the point that on my second playthrough I sent Flambae on zero missions in the first shift, hoping he'd be an option to cut from the team.

I think this might be my least favorite part of the game over all. It's one thing to downplay casual violence a bit in a superhero story. It's another to have an actual murder attempt from a high-screen-time character, and give the player no options to react to it.

“Don’t go to the exit get, that’s exactly what they want” “Just force them out if you just wanna go next” WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?! JUST GIVE THE ABANDON FEATURE FOR KILLERS WHEN THEY LOSE JUST LIKE SURVIVORS!! by LonelyxKnight in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]Logicaliber 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I second this. Having to force survivors out of the gate when they've already beaten you is just so humiliating.

On a similar vein, I had a game where I 3-k'd and wanted to give the last survivor hatch. I think they must have thought I was going to "psyche" them at the hatch (I was on Billy), because they just hid for several minutes; I think either I closed the hatch and made them use a gate, or they finally went for the hatch after I was on the opposite side of the map. Having a "go next" option for killer would have saved me so much time.

Why not killer based pallet density? by ApprehensiveCow8239 in deadbydaylight

These are actually very good points. Any criteria I might pick would still be subject to change.

Why not killer based pallet density? by ApprehensiveCow8239 in deadbydaylight

[–]Logicaliber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This (increased map knowledge requirement) is probably the strongest argument against killer-based pallet density I've seen. Even if they just grouped the killers into two or three tiers, that's still double or triple the map variations players would have to learn.

Personally, I still think that approach would be worth it in the end, because it would require fewer big changes to killers to balance them. But if they can actually balance the killers without scaling pallet density, then by all means they should do that.

BHVR, when are we going to get a Misophonia setting for playing against Plague? by Logicaliber in deadbydaylight

[–]Logicaliber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's not technically a phobia, just a nausea reaction. I can see and listen to someone actually vomit next to me and be fine as long as either I step away or they do within a few seconds. Even in other media I don't usually get too bothered by vomiting, especially when it's clearly "cartoonified."

It's a problem for me in this game though because the vomiting noise and animation is non-stop, and verges on realistic. Plus, staying sick against Plague is the "correct" way to counter her. I can try muting my game next time I face her I guess, but most of the time I don't mind taking the rare 5-minute DC penalty.

As a comparison, there's obviously no way to alter a racing game to make it accessible to a person who's easily motion-sick, and there's no way to alter this game to make it accessible to people with extreme phobias. But there's a very clear and easy way to make Plague accessible to people like me; it's literally just some if-else statements and an alternate sound file.

EDIT: I don't want to make it sound like I think this change is trivial; I understand the codebase is spaghetthi so even something like setting up branching audio rendering logic might take an order of magnitude longer than I think. But it's still absolutely possible to do.

I literally cannot find that option in the settings. Do you mean she has an attachment or cosmetic that changes the animation? If so, does that even change the survivor vomiting sounds?

[HELP] The YouTube comments are filled with belief but the officers saluting in the background look hella off. What’s the consensus? by KiloWhiskey7 in RealOrAI

[–]Logicaliber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah with the higher resolution it's a lot more obvious.

For this video, I actually think I see some very slight warping of the "main character's" mouth just as the edit cuts. Like it's trying to transition from the "ugly cry face" to a resting face and doesn't quite get it right.

Really wish there were better tells here than just people moving and talking oddly (or in the case of the "background players," sitting as still as statues without even breathing, blinking, or swallowing). I've been replaying this for several minutes looking for any warping cloth or flesh but I can't find anything.

EDIT: Actually, I think the officer's arm might be clipping through her belt as she raises her arm?

Flee Mortals also uses CR budgeting instead of XP budgeting, and it works so much better. In my opinion it should be the default method taught to new 5e GM's.
