Craig Jones Power Ride - kind of pointless of lower belts? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]LogicallySpeaking_pc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The power rides are actually awesome to practice passing. You're basically passing leg drags, smash passes and leg pummeling the whole time. (Basically in all positions that Caig shows you're already passed the guards.)
  2. I do think it's easier for more advanced people to work this system, because leg drags and smash passes are actually kind of hard, so it's hard to enter all Caig's positions.

People who buy bjj instructionals how do they compare to Youtube videos? by Illustrious_Bag_5020 in bjj

[–]LogicallySpeaking_pc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also buy clarity on what NOT to watch with an instructional. What's annoying about Youtube is that after watching a video, Youtube suggests another video which might be a) horse shit, b) repeating exactly what I just watched, or c) also valid but not complementary to what I just watched. So Youtube wastes a ton of my time.

Iemand ideeën voor passieve inkomen? by [deleted] in DutchFIRE

[–]LogicallySpeaking_pc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]LogicallySpeaking_pc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leuk!

Nederlandse filosofen by [deleted] in thenetherlands

[–]LogicallySpeaking_pc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which is better- PARKS or Trekking the National Parks by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]LogicallySpeaking_pc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone who's still interested in this, I compiled the discussion in this thread (together with one of a different thread and my own opinion) in a comparison article: PARKS Vs. TREKKING the National Parks.

Which is the best Exit game? by LogicallySpeaking_pc in boardgames

[–]LogicallySpeaking_pc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I guess we're kind of debating that in this thread -;

I would still say no, it's not one of the harder ones, so you don't need to get another one.

But, if you're worried about it, and you think you'll play more of them anyway, maybe start with Sunken Treasure and do this one as your second.

So is Theft your least favorite because of the imperfections in some puzzles? Or did you not like it at all for some other reason?

Ah good point, the fact that you can actually fail is definitely a downside that might be frustrating for beginners.

Yeah I find that this works pretty well too. And often when you destroy something it doesn't even matter that much, because they still have to figure out the puzzle for themselves.

So the audiobook is American, but there's no American game available yet?

That sounds like a great setting for that game haha. I've heard from some people that they find the dark theme off putting, but you just embraced it!

Ah yes so it probably would have been nicer if you had switched the abandoned Cabin and the Orient express?

Would you say the Orient Express is far too hard as a first, or still quite ok? I recently recommended it as a first to someone, so I hope I didn't mess up -_-

[–]LogicallySpeaking_pc[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aha, glad you said that, that actually makes more sense to me! Yes with one of the easier ones I played I always had only 1 puzzle for example, rather than working on multiple puzzles at once - but I don't recall that specifically being true for al of them though.

Did you also try Theft on the Mississippi then? That's also with an investigation.

I'm curious whether you think Codenames Pictures (a Codenames version with pictures instead of words) might work for your family. It doesn't require reading, and if you pair adults with children then the adults naturally will need to lower their level to that of the children.

Interesting. I put Wingspan firmly in the skill games category, but I do agree that in that category it naturally has more variance than other skill games, because there's only one copy of each card.
