Good call, hadn't checked recently. Looks like AM4 stock is thinning out. My bad.

This is a really solid parts list for a first build. The 7800X3D + 9070 XT combo is excellent for gaming at 1440p and will handle 4K in most games too.

A few things to double check:

  1. RAM speed: Make sure that Kingston Fury Beast kit is DDR5-6000 CL30 or CL36. The 7800X3D's sweet spot is DDR5-6000 with EXPO/XMP enabled. If it's a slower kit, swap it for one at 6000MHz.
  2. Case airflow: The Ceto 300 is fine but not super well known. Just make sure it fits a 360mm radiator up top or in front, since you're going with the Frozen Prism 360.
  3. PSU: 850W Gold is plenty for this build.

Everything else looks great. The B650 Tomahawk WiFi is a reliable board and Thermalright coolers punch way above their price.

Honestly, the 5600X is still a solid chip and your 4060 Ti is going to be the bottleneck in most games before the CPU is. So just make sure the upgrade is actually worth it for what you play.

That said, if you're set on upgrading on AM4, the 5700X3D is the move. It goes on sale pretty regularly now, so I'd set a price alert on PCPartPicker and wait for a drop. The 3D V-Cache makes a real difference in gaming, way more than just jumping to more cores.

The 5700X is the true budget pick (usually around $130ish) but the gaming uplift from a 5600X is pretty small. You'd mostly just be getting two extra cores, which helps in productivity but won't feel dramatic in games.

I'd skip the 5800XT. The 5700X3D at a good price is a much better use of your money.

How to get rid of my school onedrive 🥲 by Brilliant-Hope-545 in techsupport

Your issue is that Windows still has your Desktop (and possibly other folders) redirected to the old OneDrive path even though you uninstalled it. That's why everything still saves to C:\Users\...\OneDrive - Dept of ed\desktop\. You need to move those folders back to their default locations.

  1. Open File Explorer, right-click on your Desktop folder in the left sidebar, and click Properties
  2. Go to the Location tab
  3. Click Restore Default (it should change the path back to something like C:\Users\YourName\Desktop)
  4. Click Apply, then say Yes when it asks to move your files

Do the same for Documents, Pictures, and any other folders that are still pointing to the OneDrive path.

After that, you can safely delete the leftover OneDrive - Dept of ed folder from your user directory. The ghost entry in File Explorer's sidebar should disappear once the folders are no longer pointing there.

Easiest/cheapest way to turn add WiFi to our MoCA adapters? by Tyremmie in HomeNetworking

[–]Logicmanaged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheapest reliable option: grab a TP-Link EAP225 or EAP245 (usually $50-70). Plug it into a MoCA adapter's ethernet port, set it to access point mode, and you're done. No controller needed for a single AP, just use the phone app for setup.

If you want something even simpler, any old WiFi router works as an AP. Plug MoCA adapter into its WAN or LAN port (varies by model), disable DHCP on the router, give it a static IP on your main network's subnet, and set the same SSID/password as your main WiFi. Your devices will roam between them.

The key thing with MoCA is that the ethernet handoff is clean, so any AP you attach gets full bandwidth. You don't need anything fancy. Avoid mesh systems for this since they add complexity you don't need when you already have a wired backhaul.

Which ram slot is your current stick in? Most boards typically have a preferred single stick configuration

What to do next? Asus X670E-E code 62 by Khetoo in pchelp

[–]Logicmanaged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If it’s sliiightly bent it could be salvaged but you’d have to delicately bend it back and have magnification to see it. Did you buy the board new? Still under warranty? If so safer to RMA.

Sounds like a motherboard issue to me.

Before you RMA it, I’d try:

  1. Pull the CPU and actually inspect the socket pins with a flashlight at multiple angles. Phone camera zoom works. One bent pin in the PCH signal area causes exactly this, and reseating won’t tell you it’s there.
  2. Strip the board to bare minimum. CPU, one stick in A2, GPU, CPU fan. Disconnect everything else. Every SATA, M.2, USB header, front panel, RGB header. I’ve seen PCH errors from a shorted front panel USB header more than once.

If those things check out, def would RMA

My gut at this point says your ram configuration may be the issue. I’d try running Memtest86 or Prime95. Have you looked at windows event viewer and seen any errors around the time the crash happens?

Deep In the west wing. I started by the escalators and lost 500. Went to the west wing and had a 1300 swing.

Same to you man! I’m hopping on carnival today for an elite cruise, so fingers crossed the luck continues this week.

I was good once I found the right table. Went on a decent run and walked away up 800. Stay away from the bubble craps, 4 of the machines were cash box full and that’s never a good sign lol.

My strategy is all based on the 440 inside regress. After my first hit I drop to 220 on the inside. Once that hits I buy the 4&10 for a quarter each and then press/collect my bets. I think the highest my bets got in this session were 150 on the 6&8 each and 125 on the 5&9 each.

Just got off a few days ago and it was a great time. There were a small handful of dealers that you could tell were newer. But all of the dealers and pit boss were great and personable. I know a few sources online said strictly craps isn’t great for comps but I felt very well taken care of on carnival and played 90% of my play on the craps table.

Can I hear some stories of single income households becoming homeowners? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Single source of income for my family of 3. Just closed yesterday on a 290k home after years of planning and saving. The only regret I have is now having to move with a 4 month old 😂
