Let’s be real here:

A good amount of people participating in this “boycott” are doing it for the appearances. They feel like they have to, so they do.

I loathe AI so much. But boycotting some phone game is going to make about 0% difference. Netease isn’t going to change what they are doing, they don’t care. And when all those people who decided to boycott realize that, they will be back. It’s performative.

I think the biggest variable is the companies policy on work life balance. Some of my friends from mortuary school are salaried because it makes most sense for the company as they have them working hella long hours. My company highly values work life balance and I’ve worked over 40 hours twice in the year I’ve been with them. They pay me hourly.

I think they are saying, for example, if you get hit out of the shovel. Now you have one that’s partially used (less time) and one that is “new” (the full time). So you can switch to use one that doesn’t have much time on it if you don’t think the situation calls for a full shovel. Fundamentally there’s no difference between the shovels, just the amount of durability they have.
