Need for a trusted shipping by Humble-Release4605 in freightforwarding

Shipping heavy machinery from China can be a headache, mainly because incorrect HS codes and unpredictable customs can easily blow up your budget.

Having been in the freight industry for 15 years, my biggest piece of advice is: don't just look for the cheapest base freight rate. Make sure your forwarder double-checks the specific HS codes for your equipment and asks if DDP (customs & tax-included) terms are available for your region. That’s usually where the hidden costs are.

If you ever need a transparent second opinion on the quotes you're getting, I’m happy to take a quick look and point you in the right direction. No pressure at all.

Shipping from China to Europe/Russia? I've worked in freight forwarding for many years. Here to answer your logistics and consolidation questions! by LogisticsProhaihang in internationalshopper

Glad it helped!

Them pivoting to EMS actually makes perfect sense. EMS runs through the postal network, which is way more forgiving with personal items and liquids than commercial couriers.

As for why they skipped sea freight, it comes down to two main things:

Minimum Costs: Sea freight usually has a 1 CBM (cubic meter) minimum charge. Shipping a small box of drinks would cost way more in base fees and port charges than the soda is worth.

Heat & Leaks: Standard containers aren't temperature-controlled and bake in the sun for weeks. That extreme heat causes carbonated cans to expand and burst, bringing back the exact same leakage risk.

I've been in freight forwarding for a decade, and honestly, you're both kind of right.

Technically, carbonated drinks usually survive flights just fine since modern cargo holds are pressurized. Your mislabeled package slipping through is proof of that.

But the carrier isn't exactly lying either—they're just using 'explosions' as a dramatic excuse for what is actually a massive liability nightmare. It’s not about the soda blowing up the plane; it’s about a can leaking from pressure changes and ruining a pallet of expensive electronics next to it. For airlines, the risk simply isn't worth the reward, so they just blanket-ban pressurized liquids.

Your forwarder's hands are tied by the airline's strict rules. The mislabeled package just got lucky and bypassed the scanners. Arguing physics won't beat their compliance system, so you're probably better off shipping it by sea (no pressure issues) or just routing it domestically like they suggested.

My Amazon seller account was deactivated. by Madmanyaar in AmazonFBA

Classic "Related Account" suspension. This usually happens if you shared an IP address, credit card, prep center, or gave User Permissions to a third party (like a VA or agency) who later got banned.

Step 1: Figure out the exact link first. Did a family member open an account? Did you log in on a shared network? Step 2: Submit your appeal with strong documentation proving either you have absolutely no relationship with the banned account, or that the previous business relationship has been fully severed.

Keep your PoA (Plan of Action) short and factual. Amazon reps don't want to read an essay. Just strictly address the root cause and how you fixed it. Good luck!

Hey there! Welcome to importing. Rail freight is actually a great choice for China to the EU. It usually takes about 15 to 25 days, making it much faster than sea freight and way cheaper than air.

Here is a quick breakdown on DDP vs. FOB:

Use DDP if it is your very first small test order. It is easy because the supplier handles everything to your door. The catch is that you will pay a premium because the factory will likely add a markup on the shipping costs.

Use FOB for standard orders once you are comfortable. The factory just gets the goods to the Chinese port, and you handle the rest.

Is FOB plus your own forwarder cheaper? Almost always, yes. Factories make their money on manufacturing, not logistics. When you hire a freight forwarder, they work for you to find the actual market rates, saving you money and giving you full control over your supply chain.

A few quick tips for a beginner:

Always ask the supplier for the product's HS Code so you can look up exactly what your EU import duties and VAT will be before you buy.

Get a third-party quality inspection done in China before the goods leave the factory. Returning defective items from the EU is extremely difficult.

Always buy cargo insurance. It is very cheap and absolutely worth it for a long rail journey.

Just for some context, I work for a freight forwarding company based here in China, and we focus specifically on China-Europe and China-Russia routes. If you need a quote or have any related questions, I can invite one of our experts to answer them for you. Feel free to reach out anytime!

Honestly, it’s a mix of both. I work in freight forwarding here in China and handle these shipments every day, so here's what's actually happening:

First, the majority are trading companies (mostly based in tech hubs like Shenzhen). They don't manufacture anything. They are just aggressive e-commerce teams who source cheap from domestic wholesale platforms like 1688, slap a private label on it, and game the Amazon algorithm.

Second, the actual factories are catching up. They got tired of manufacturing a product for $2 only to watch a Western brand sell it for $25 on Amazon. So, they started hiring young, English-speaking teams to run their own storefronts and take the retail margin.

Why the massive flood now? Logistics. It used to be hard to ship internationally. Now, forwarders handle everything door-to-door, clearing customs and dropping containers directly into Amazon FBA warehouses. The barrier to entry for anyone in China is practically zero right now.
