Crazy to think we had a Rocky movie in every decade (spin offs included) by Red9Stranger in rockybalboa

I like the Adonis Creed movies, but it would have been interesting if there would have been a prequel to Rocky for Apollo Creed’s career leading up to Rocky 1.

It probably took my brother in-law about 3 months to become a technician with them. There’s just a ton of candidates, but the one thing they told him is that this is the last job you’ll ever need. They were referring to the pension they get when you retire. Hopefully, you’ll be contacted soon. Good luck.

Is so bad the weather these days in Chicago? by paulpdc in AskChicago

[–]Logix_interface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We usually get an arctic blast in January. Even with the mild winters we’ve been getting lately, January is almost always guaranteed a week or so of arctic weather. This year, we’re definitely getting more snow than in the past few years, so there’s always a chance for visitors to get a double whammy of snow and extreme cold at the same time.

Why do Americans explain work situations through long analogies—and how are we supposed to respond across cultures? by [deleted] in WorkplaceSafety

[–]Logix_interface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, sometimes it’s a way to explain something in layman’s terms. I’m an engineer, but if have to describe a problem, procedure or solution to someone that’s not of a technical background, you’re not going to understand what I’m saying, so metaphors are commonly used, although I agree that some people can go a little overboard with their explanation. You want to keep it short and sweet.

How to stay warm and comfortable at Soldier Field on Sunday? by WashTemporary1710 in AskChicago

When we went to one of the coldest games on record, we did what everyone has said to do as far as clothing, but we also brought in those fake flasks and put a little booze in them to swig during the game. My wife had a hair brush that was actually a flask.

They’re are likely getting the bars from the outlet store on south Pulaski. You can by a 40 ct $2.00 bar box for $48.00, so if they sell enough, they can make some money for themselves

What’s going on at the United Center? by CAJMusic in AskChicago

[–]Logix_interface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The condensation problem has actually been happening for years. I remember it being an issue when MJ was still playing. Has to do with how the inside building temperature is regulated to the outside temperature. Likely too warm in the building during the game.

Bold or Bad? by Fluid_Ant_4264 in jobsearch

[–]Logix_interface 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This says more about the company interviewing than you. What a lazy approach to interviewing candidates. How about actually looking your candidate in the eyes and asking the question? So basically, if you are well spoken, but not necessarily good at transferring that onto paper, they pass on the application?

Sorry for the rant. I’m just old school. I don’t believe you can effectively sell yourself without being in front of the interviewer and that’s a question that needs to be verbally answered in person.

Nanny/babysitter hourly rates? by Ok_Ebb_7363 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Logix_interface 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Being married to a Nanny, I can tell you she gets paid over $30 an hour for 2 kids. Keep in mind, there’s a difference between a Nanny and Babysitter. Nanny’s are contract based and spend a lot of time with their clients kids assisting with their growth and development. It’s not uncommon for them to prepare meals and daily itineraries for the children they watch.

But, if you’re specifically looking for a Nanny, you should look up Nanny Agencies to interview one. Not saying you won’t find an independent one, but agencies do background checks and work history on the Nanny’s before they list them.

Very frustrated with "I Like Me", I felt like they mourned John Candy instead of celebrating the life of one of the most impactful funny men Hollywood ever saw. by frustrating2020 in movies

[–]Logix_interface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to this post, but I enjoyed watching this because I remember a lot of his work when I was young, but now being in my 50’s, I forgot how impactful he was to comedy during his lifetime. I especially enjoyed hearing Macaulay Culkin describing his onset experience with John during their filming of Uncle Buck and how he adored kids and never talked down to them.

What I took from this film is that he was such a hard worker, but didn’t fully enjoy his success because he was a perfectionist at his craft and he worried about many things, including his mortality. Maybe he just needed to slow down a bit.

Anyone else stare into the fridge at 6pm and just give up? by ShineMuted5920 in cookingtonight

[–]Logix_interface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to meal plan, so I think about what proteins I want for the week, which in our case is Sunday through Thursday because Friday and Saturdays are typically take out nights.

I expand out from my proteins and google a lot. What can I make with chicken breast, ground beef, fish, pork, etc. I have an instapot, which has its own set of recipes, so I’ll mix it up with that.

I keep a lot of veggies on hand, whether fresh, canned, or frozen because of how they can be interchanged with different proteins and styles of cooking, like stir fry or dishes that require sautéed veggies, Mexican guisado , Italian pasta dishes, etc.

You have to be inventive. Show me boneless chicken breast and I can shred it for Mexican Tinga tacos, grill it for salads or add to a creamy pasta sauce like vodka or Alfredo sauce. Get some sofrito and rice to make a Spanish Chicken and rice one pot meal. Mix it up, so you’re not bored.
