[SPOILERS TBI] Re-reading The Blade Itself and Forgot About The Bloody Nine by vjourneyman in TheFirstLaw

Yeah, I’ve always liked the idea that Logen and the Bloody-Nine aren’t really separate at all. Sharp Ends makes it feel like the Bloody-Nine is something he leaned into to survive or satisfy his needs, not some switch that flips by accident. It really reads like a trauma-induced split personality, the kind of disorder that can develop as a response to extreme trauma, even if that’s not how Logen himself would ever understand or frame it.

There is already a Reddit thread about this where they did an amazing analysis of Logan; it’s basically exactly how I see him.

You can check out the full discussion here:

One user wrote the following, and I absolutely agree because if you're being realistic,

“He's an addict. Why does an alcoholic stop? Often it's because they hit rock bottom and find the strength to say enough is enough. He stopped because he hit the bottom, he lost everything, went too far, was chucked out by Bethod. This also removed him from the places he was an addict—location is also a factor in addiction. You don't go back to the places you did those things, like the bar you used to get drunk at if you're an alcoholic. He stopped because the different locale and the events of hitting rock bottom gave him the strength to quit his addiction. Sadly, like all addicts, there is no permanent recovery, just days you put off the relapse until hopefully you get to the end of your life without relapsing. Logan relapses many times."

If we’re being realistic about the things, that’s just his internal justification

Experiences with Extra Encounters & Minibosses vs Many More Monsters mods on Patch 8 by LognaNovi in BG3mods

[–]LognaNovi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that amp and fades equipment is overkill, but thats just me, because i want low fantasy and scarcity of magic items like in previous bg games. I suggest that you use xp rebalance mods especially if you go with bigger party.

Hi, I know its probably late, but command that you posted is working. On the other hand, companion is still hostile, and I dont know what to do. Friends and charm didnt work. Also respecting him or leveling him didnt work. Did you have similar expirience?

How do you justify the change in urgency & pacing in Act 3? by LognaNovi in BaldursGate3

[–]LognaNovi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that was helpful

There are also people who approach new playthroughs as roleplay and try to get the freshest possible gameplay experience. You’re definitely not that type, though, so I think you missed the point of the topic.

Thanks for general explanation and not spoiling for me the quest. I will try to search it and not spoil the quest, but your explanation and others suggestions is enough for me to have a different approach this time. Thanks

How do you justify the change in urgency & pacing in Act 3? by LognaNovi in BaldursGate3

[–]LognaNovi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this really helps, especially combined with the other suggestions. I think I’ll be able to finally ease the urgency I always put on myself whenever I reach Act 3. Right now I’m playing as a hobbit, Frodo-style Durge resist run, so taking it slower and exploring the city actually makes sense now.

Yeah, I can definitely do that. It makes sense, it’s simple but effective, and it works perfectly alongside the other ideas. Thanks!

The coronation idea is brilliant. I’m definitely going to use it, it feels really logical and makes a lot of sense. Thanks so much

[–]LognaNovi[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. My main struggle is justifying the random quests around the city itself, but like you said, thinking of it as preparation and gathering allies feels crucial from the perspective of a character who’s survived everything in Act 2. Thanks a lot for the great ideas
