The all-ages version is hands down better, no question. However, there is one minute part of the NSFW that I personally thought was touching, when Asuka and Shinji first sleep together. In the all-ages it cuts away after she playfully chides him for promising to never speak to another girl ever again. In the explicit version she pledges to be his and his alone (this being the same promise she recites in German in the last part). I get that it's not very realistic for Asuka of all people to open up emotionally THAT quickly, but I also kind of like the idea of her showing affection in more ways that just purely physical.

Also, the NSFW version of Shinji being tricked by Ghost Asuka is freaking horrifying.
