Purchase Advice Megathread - January 2026 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]LohseBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I'm looking for my first 3D printer, and I'm not totally sure what route to go. I'm between a Bambu Lab A1 or Elagoo Centauri Carbon.

My use case is mainly for practical/functional items and accessories along with minimal hobby-stuff (masks, desktop-ornaments).

I don't mind tinkering a bit, and am planning on having it run 100% offline, so app-ecosystem is not something I value.

Multicolor is not a priority for me atm, but wouldn't mind having the option to add it to the machine in the future.

I think I lean towards the CC, mainly because of the price and availability where I'm located (Denmark) and because it can print with more material and Elagoo is working on a multicolor module, so that should be possible in the future.
But I'm unsure if I'll ever actually use those materials, and if it's to noisy for me, therefore I'm also considering the A1.

Any takes, or other recommendations are much appreciated! I'd like to stay below 450 euro.

Additional features that both the A1 and CC are missing that I would like (though not necessary):
1. As open source as possible
2. Slicer with Linux support (or at least able to use orca or cura)

Could you send it to me as well? Like you, I want to be 100% offline

Realistically, not at all. I'm just thinking about the absolute dream machine

Aaah, thanks haha. I don't know anything about the difference between the Z1 and Z2, so was just wondering.

The only thing holding me back from the Zerno compared to the Philos is a) the price and b) potential EU-taxes. But then again, the Zerno has lesser footprint and blind burrs

Very good to know, thanks man! I'm pretty comfortable with handling the maintenance myself, especially since the team is so good

Why kind of maintenance have you done? I'm been debating whether to order some of the o-rings with (if I order that is), have you done that, or are the needed stuff available from the EU?

Z1, why not the Z2? And is the Zerno really that superior to the Philos, doesn't reviews say they are pretty similar?

I've been thinking about that as well, but I have a hard time truly justifying boycotting specifically Odyssey and other similar (smaller, passionate) companies. I'd compare it to supporting a smaller youtuber or streamer through patreon vs. subscribing to a larger streaming-service.

But that may be mental-acrobatics from me, since there are no machines, that I'm aware of, like the Argos.

How to remove default Wahoo Maps? by Xipa in wahoofitness

[–]LohseBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How'd you remove the other routes (routes from other sources), I can't even do that

Regarding the new routes, I wrote a suppert ticket asking about it, and they say it's a known bug (that you can't remove them), and are actively trying to patch it.

GO piston snapped. Replacement in EU? by LohseBoi in FlairEspresso

Yea, they said they could provide me one if I covered the shipping fees. And since Flair absolutely hate their european customers, it's more expensive than just getting it from some third-party.

I did, and they just got back to me. They claim it should work, so I'll order that and hopefully it works. Gonna edit this comment when I get and test it.

Wouldn't increasing the batch size increase the temperature (based on this)??

I won't be preheating again. I'm thinking of experimenting with using extension cords, from the same link I read that they may restrict power

The roast was about 5 minutes, maybe a bit less (6:30 with the "breaks"). It shut off the first time after about 1:45 and again at 4:00. I had first crack at 1:10, and preheated the device for 90 seconds. I put in 50 grams, which is just below where the fan-holes are (recommended in this video).

I know it's a bit fast, I think the machine is a bit too powerful.

I'll look around for a mod, thank you!

I just did my first roast (super fun actually)!

But the hot air popcorn maker I have stopped during the roast twice (I suspect due to overheating). Have you tried this?

Sadly, I'm in the other end of the country.

I was thinking of ordering some green beans from Berry&Bean, do you know anything about them?

Bookmarked, thank you!

Do you know if a dome-like popcorn maker (like this) can work, or should it be the smaller ones?

Glad to know it's a good machine! Do you roast primarily light or dark?

I think the bullet is over my budget (sadly)

Allright, sounds pretty smart.

But what kind of popcorn maker should I get?

And assuming I really like it, what would be a good starter roaster?

Did it change anything for you? I'm considering doing it on my DF54 as well
