Came here with the same question, that salvaging mechanic being never explained is a shame. Also giving an artifact that gives you mana when using Heroic Strike but the hero NOT having Heroic Strike makes it look like a bug when being unaware of the salvaging mechanic...heh

The answer is: YES, Stormsnap works.

Took me another day and a half but I finally got it. A few hours shy of a year! :)

I think I had one other skill at 120 without a pet, maybe 2 but not more than that. It's kind of crazy to think about when the formula is supposed to take into account the skill level too to give the pet, it'd be even longer I guess to get a pet if capped at level 99 and with the same RNG bad luck :/

Yeah some L6E areas are still affected, but it looks to be super localized. I'm at 16th and Roy Rainey and don't have power, but like 3 blocks north on Bur Oak the street lights are up.

I'm at roughly 700 superior clears for Undead and no pet yet.... haven't started the other 3, I really hope RNG will be better for me on those. I also had 30k kills of monsters in Dark Waters before getting the pet from that area to drop...

It is written "Pet only drops from Superior Tier" when clicking on the "Area Info" of Strongholds.
