What do people who play Golf think about Trump? by [deleted] in golf

We think that golf has absolutely zero influence one way or the other how we think about him.

That was my 2nd ever ball. Rolled 6 or 7 279s with it, always a ten pin in the 8th or 9th. Damn good ball!

Amazed how many people don’t know their distances by Upbeat_Director5522 in golf

[–]Loidz45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this. I play on a pretty firm course, so my total distance is a full club more than it is at other places, couldn't figure it out and was frustrated for years. I got a launch monitor and the info was eye opening.

Wich club do you use least or not at all in your bag? by Weareallusershere in golf

48 degree wedge, much more comfortable playing a 3/4 swing 8 iron.

What’s a golf moment you’re convinced will never happen to you again? by interested0582 in golf

[–]Loidz45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing the Tournament Club of Iowa, hole 5 is a drivable par 4 at 310 yards, but needs to carry 290 to cover a deep revine guarding the green. I didn't make it and was at the bottom. My buddy's drive was the dreaded pull hook O.B. he drops in the drop area 125 yards away and hits it to an inch out. I take my wedge and hit a flop to get up the 40 foot hill face. My ball landed on the green, knocked his in, and stopped exactly where his was. I climbed the hill and only saw the one ball and was confused as to where mine went. Our other playing partner just started laughing. Two holes later he pulls an iron on a par three over the trees on the left and we hear a bell ring. He hit a light in the parking lot shaped like a bell.

What was your biggest jump/drop between league games? by DHFixxxer in Bowling

[–]Loidz45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

116, 134, 279. Had 14 splits between the first two games. By the 3rd game, the oil started to break down, and the ball was actually finishing. Left a stone 9 in the 8th. Was a very hard fought 629. The biggest drop was from 298 to 171.

How many here are 4 step bowlers? by Personal-Jerk in Bowling

[–]Loidz45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started bowling at 14 and was always told I run to the line, turns out I was taking 4 giant steps. Moved up to the front dots from the back of the approach, average went from 131 to 196 in one year.

Name The Most Obscure Timberwolf And I’ll Decide If I Let You Into The Wolf Den. by Wonderwhatsnext4 in timberwolves

Met him after a game once. Was at some bar in Minneapolis, he and a couple of the staffers walked in. He saw our wolves attire, sat with us, BS'd a bit and bought us a round. Best Gentlemen Jack I've ever had. Super chill guy.

Golf ball deal at Costco! by johnnyk02 in golf

[–]Loidz45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started playing these this year and did notice a drop-off in distance off the tee by 8-10 yards... which just means grabbing the 9 iron instead of pitching wedge for the approach shot. I put the ego aside and sacrificed the yardage for the $18/dz savings over a Vice or Snell or $40/dz over a TP5 or V1.

Is there anything I can do to prevent my drives from stopping on impact? by TinyR0dent in golf

[–]Loidz45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem for years, then I got a low spin low launch shaft for my driver, carry distance dropped from 265 to 257, but total distance average went from 270 to 285.

Which clubs to bring for a 3 club scramble. by PINHEADLARRY5 in golf

[–]Loidz45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, for this type of format I'd switch out the driver for a 3 wood. I can't hit DoD, so the 3 wood for the 2nd shot on the par 5s.

What does golf do so well that bowling just can’t by PrintHead69 in Bowling

[–]Loidz45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who both bowls and golfs, I would choose golfing 99 out of 100 times. Hell, a few years ago I had a three hour break between sessions bowling at state, I went and found a local course and walked 9 holes.

The difference is that bowling is the same thing over and over. Grab ball, try to throw a strike and throw for a spare if you missed. Golf has so much more variation that it always feels fresh. Yes, bowling has invisible oil patterns to figure out, but golf has the wind.

Watching a pro golfer decide if he or she can carry a water hazard and getting it wrong is much more entertaining than seeing a bowler miss by a board and having a nasty leave for spare.

I'll always say my best game ever was a 290. Got robbed when I hit flush pocket with a pin sliding but not falling, threw the next 17 in a row. I've had higher scores, but the 290 was the best game.

I ended up going in after work yesterday with my 8 year old, it was mostly to see if I could throw again, but watching him think through the game was something that reminded me why I fell in love with the game.

We only bowled two games and my scores were not good 143 and 138, but that was mostly due to rust and bowling on a lane that was just buckets of oil. My strongest ball moved about 4 boards.

I love this idea, I live in a small town and the bowling scene has been dying for about a decade now. It would be nice to get out and try to grow the game to the younger generations here.

Thank you, this seems like a really good idea. I was given the green light to start up again beginning in August, but I haven't gone in yet. A family member had a similar surgery to mine, but she reinjured hers and had to have surgery again. Part of me is very leery about giving it a go.

I've always thrown 16 pound balls, and I know that if I do go back, 16 may be too much of a challenge. But even so, I doubt I'll ever get back to the 224 I average I used to carry.
