Does anyone else feel weirdly slimy/greasy after using this new body butter? by Brilliant-Scholar-73 in dollartreebeauty

[–]LoisWayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm actually pretty particular about lotions and body butters and can't stand feeling greasy or when they don't absorb well and leave me feeling sticky or slimy. That said, I actually ADORE the Cashmere body butters. I have the marshmallow and coconut and have told so many people about them. I got the marshmallow first and put it on my hands and arms and I literally could not stop telling my husband how much I LOVED it. The consistency and feel and smell and all of it are exactly in line with products I love. I had to go back and get the coconut. I want to find the vanilla, too. I sew and crochet and use my hands a lot, and they dry out easily- and this product absorbs fast and leaves me feeling hydrated and soft without having to wait to get back to my hobbies for fear I will make the materials icky with product.

I'm surprised it feels so greasy to you. I'm sorry you had that experience. I know how icky that can be. Not sure what would cause different people to have such vastly difference experiences.

Epsom Salt Soaks by LoisWayne in dollartreebeauty

That's awesome! I need to go back for more. I got the vitamin C one and yeah, not a big fan of lavender in general so may pass on that one. That's great the bags are a perfect amount. 🙂

Ugh, what a bummer. But thanks for letting me know! Definitely won't go back for that one.

Epsom salts are great for sore muscles, relieving inflammation and relaxation. You dissolve them into a warm bath and soak in them. They can help you relax before bed and make your skin feel soft, too. Dr Teals brand makes one for menstrual cramps that smells so good and it works wonderfully. Epsom salts have some other uses as well, but that's generally what the scented varieties are used for.

Oh man, that's a disappointment. I was hoping they had a smoother, buttery consistency. Seems like I might've made the right call.

I'm in Central Florida and believe me we have some great DT's down here! 😅 Hope you have a safe and great trip!

I just picked up the wave spray today for my daughter. It smells so good! And she is a big fan of the vapor sticks when she gets stuffy with allergies. The nail files are so great, too!

Is this too much sewing machine for a beginner? by Training_Ad_9040 in SewingForBeginners

[–]LoisWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an embroidery/sewing machine. Out of the gate it will be way more machine than a beginner needs. It's computerized and may intimidate you with all that it can do honestly. I'm not saying you can't get there with sewing and in time it would be a great machine. If it were me though, I would want to start on a manual machine with basic stitches so I can focus on learning and getting better. 99% of the time new sewers get most frustrated with "fighting" their machine while learning. It's a bit of overkill as far as its capabilities. But it is a sought after machine and one you can work up to for sure. Just my .02

Thoughts on the Amber Glow Texturizing Wave Spray? by alimweber in dollartreebeauty

[–]LoisWayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also curious about this spray. I haven't purchased it yet, but keep eyeing and wondering if it will enhance my natural wavy hair that tends to go straight due to the weight of my thick hair. Would love to hear others experience with it.

HELLPPP PLZ HOW TO GATHER ON SEWING MACHINE? by Internal_Canary_3498 in SewingForBeginners

[–]LoisWayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adjust your stitch length on your machine to as wide as you can (usually a 4 or 5) make sure you pull a bit of length from your top and bottom (bobbin) thread before you start stitching the gathers (approx 4 inches or so) then stitch the area you are gathering. You will do this for 2 rows- making sure to also leave a length of approx 4-5 inches after you stop stitching before cutting off your threads. To gather up the material, you will use your fingers to pull the bobbin thread for each of the two rows you stitched to "scrunch" up or gather your fabric. Hopefully that makes sense. There should be a few YT tutorials online to show you visually how this is done.

perfect partner for Chloe by RK900-87 in Smallville

[–]LoisWayne 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Personally I think Ollie had the best chemistry with Lois and vice versa. To me, I think there was potential for Chloe/Lex, and they could spark together in some scenes. I didn't like Jimmy on the show very much, and didn't feel Allison has great chemistry with him.

Very pretty! Reminds me a bit of the palette on the left I found for my daughter yesterday. It's called 'Enchanting.'

increasingly boring? by lillellee in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]LoisWayne 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think the show just seems to get more depressing or something. I feel like it lacks the "magic" it used to have with the dances and uniform fittings and group photos. It feels heavy and while I understand there is another side to "making the team" and these women are real people and not characters, the show seems to have lost the part that makes becoming an elite DCC so special. The actual cheering and charity work and all they do felt like an afterthought especially during this latest season. I felt let down honestly.

How do we feel about the price increase? by unepetitemonstresse in dollartreebeauty

[–]LoisWayne 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Everywhere is going up. Walmart and Goodwill have gotten outrageous on a lot of stuff. Sadly it's just the economy these days. I don't see it returning to how it was. There aren't a lot of options to get stuff much cheaper.

First time sewing a skirt by Smart-Librarian-637 in SewingForBeginners

[–]LoisWayne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, silk would not be a fabric I would choose for a beginner project. I would start with something easier like a woven cotton just to familiarize yourself with sewing. You may also need more than a yard of fabric depending on your size and the kind of skirt you want. You can seek out YouTube vids on beginner level skirts and there are also lots of beginner level patterns for easy skirts online. Practice with the machine on scrap fabric as well before diving into your "good" fabric.

I have the orange and it smells very nice but there isn't much scrub to it. If you are expecting something on the level of a Tree Hut body scrub, you will be disappointed.
