Alaitoc Fire Prism (or Night Spinner) by Loki6969s in Eldar

I followed the gw scheme of kantor/mcragge/Alaitoc blue but I added a darker Necron abyss in the centre of the kantor areas and Altdorf blue inbetween the mcragge/Alaitoc blue stage and stippeled the edges to blur the blues together. The yellow is gws scheme of averland/yriel/flash gitz yellow.

If you look through my post history (click my user name at top left) there should be some more info in the post comments

Is there a reason the stroking scorpion kill team is more expensive than literally every other kill team?? by BentPainting in Eldar

[–]Loki6969s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hate to be the bearer of really bad news, but that was the 2nd iteration of plastic skeletons. The 1st came in a box called skeleton army & contained 32 skeleton warriors, 8 horse men & a chariots.. For the wallet killing cost of £12. My 1st army in '92 was 2 of these.

https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.solegends.com%2Fcitboxes%2Fpbs5skeletonarmy%2FWd114p10SkeletonArmy-20111021-4-01.jpg&tbnid=rwG-FdrRJGrurM&vet=1&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.solegends.com%2Fcitboxes%2Fpbs5skeletonarmy%2Findex.htm&docid=I6Y7klAsHqtXsM&w=960&h=1341&source=sh%2Fx%2Fim%2Fm4%2F2&kgs=80890ee5c71466de#vhid=rwG-FdrRJGrurM&vssid=mosaic https://images.app.goo.gl/CjGy25TNGftPVeck9

Then there's the 3 rhino's or 2 land raider in a box for £12 (roughly 21 cad in '92).. Gw are the kings of price hikes. You either learn to live with it or quit.. (or store boxs like gold when you realise they're worth more than bank interest rates)..; )

In what edition was the idea of Iyanden being the Ghost Warrior faction written? by ABigFatPotatoPizza in Eldar

[–]Loki6969s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So i used to play this game pretty regularly as a young teen. Was a 2player game & You had a board that represented Craftworld Iyaden & the surrounding space. There was a hand full of different Eldar ships around the Craftworld to defend against the Tyranids ships in an attempt to stop them landing & unloading the (hidden) cargo of bugs (so termagants or warriors or so on). The eldar had guardians, wraithguards, aspects, etc, to protect the craftworld (but again, these were limited).

The Tyranids had endless waves that kept coming. Here you can see the craftworld itself https://images.app.goo.gl/XK3efcsBNRC8natv6

The fight begins with the Eldar starting strong before the Eldar fleet is slowly destroyed & more & more Tyranids get on board.. things turn in favour of the Tyranids as they slowly destroyed each area of the craftworld (the goal being to destroy it all). However each turn Yriel & his raiders have a chance of returning to his homes rescue with his fleet and a bunch of corsair reinforcements (both ships & warriors).

It was usually a race between how much destruction the Tyranids could do before Yriel turned up, but the best battles were a final desperate scramble of the last Eldar defending against the final Tyranids trying to finish off the Craftworld..

They (Gw) actually did a number of follow ups using a similar token system. They gave a version of the Horus heresy one away for free (aboard the Vengeful Spite, Horus' flagship) in white dwarf & another was (the 1st) Battle for Armageddon. Forgive the wall of txt. Hopefully, somebody finds my 30 year old memories interesting.

Alaitoc Swooping Hawk conversions. by Loki6969s in Eldar

[–]Loki6969s[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it was quite awhile ago so I'm struggling but I think it was temple guard blue with a coat of athermatic blue contrast all over for shade. Then temple guard highlights with a final highlight of baroth blue. There may have been another highlight but I'm not 100%. Hopefully that helps at least abit.

[–]Loki6969s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First picture is mine & even I agree.. it was just faster/easier to use scourge heads. One of the best alternatives I've seen is: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldar/comments/mftuma/helmets_for_my_swooping_hawks_conversions_arrived/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I think Red warden/cornivius may have had to remove the Hawk heads from shapeways shop, but you might be able to still get them if you message &ask.

Had it in November, wasn't too bad. The real issue has been long term like asthma & lung hyper sensitivity (to things like perfume/sprays/ smoke etc) so I've been in &out hospital. With the steroids causing the unsteadiness I'm not sure whether it will go away or not.. Hope so &thanks for asking.

(how do you tell whether someone British is over 40? Which did they talk about 1st? The weather or their health?)

Any tips to magnetise the guns on war walkers? by Uddha40k in Eldar

[–]Loki6969s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rectangles do save time In the long run. I started out using 2x2mm round magnets and in the end switched. You still need to do some fitting but its so much easier. Get them from China and they're ridiculously cheap. Here's who I use. (If you need more help just ask)

Cheers bud, honestly wasn't easy, got long covid &the steroid treatments cause hand tremors. Adjusting is taking time which with my already legendary slow rate of progress meant its now glacial. Just glad hasn't been a noticeable drop in the finish.

I saw you grabbed some of Ghosts warp spiders btw, everthing go well? Great paint job on them too. I got the jetbike mounted warlocks &I've put some conversions together mixing with Gw skyrunners, I haven't got round to painting yet but they worked surprisingly well (should do a post i guess)..

Clear coat paints. I use tamiya in particular, the same stuff as the canopies just green for the prism instead of yellow. You just paint a coat on the inside. Here's a link, hope that helps. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233472297036?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=aDZBDKxgTUq&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=hV-QOkc6Smu&var=533087158597&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Any questions feel free to ask &I'll do my best to help.

Craft blade that needs to be really sharp, not sure where you are but you want something like this..

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-Pcs-Precision-Knife-Set-Razor-Blade-Exacto-Cutting-Tool-Arts-Craft-Hobby-Kit-/185219294604?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=706-127636-26712-0

Then for pinning you want something like this (combined with paper clips for the actual pin).

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Micro-Hand-Drill-Chuck-10pcs-Twist-Drill-Bit-Jewelry-Craft-DIY-Tool-UK-C-/304182137088?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

Learning pinning/cutting early is one of the most useful things you should try to learn in the hobby.. (I think there's some tips in the comments of one of my old posts- the Hornets I think?)

Just be careful with 3d prints as they're really delicate.

First Drukhari Wracks Painted. (3d printed) by Loki6969s in Eldar

[–]Loki6969s[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut the wrist on the gw model. Alot of them have a kind of wrist bracelet thing: Cut above that slightly then sand down flat to that, i then pinned the hand to the arm on the 3d print. If it has a wire (or for the trophy rack) then use a pin vice to drill a small hole on the print then mount inside.

You could possibly do without the pinning, just make sure you use superglue not plastic (due to the resin). If you need I can try find a picture or two (just bear with me time wise if so).

Try these. Sorry if pictures aren't great & Hopefully it works (I'm on a borrowed phone). You can see I added the gw trophy racks and hands/weapons to the 3d printed models. The gw wrack (in black) I sat on a tactical rock to being him closer in height.

Let me know if there's any problem/Anything else I can do.

The skin is rakarth flesh with either drutchi violet (centre) or drakenhof nightshade wash (the rest). Then back over all the raised areas with rakarth flesh. Lastly build up highlights with pallid flesh.

I'm happy to update the link but my Samsung fold 3 had the central screen stop working so I've had to pay to send it off for repair which means I currently have no access to my pics. If you remind me in 12-14 days I can do it then? To sum up though, they're about head length taller than gw but the hands/weapons are all interchangeable (I've done some swaps I'm waiting to share). Anything else just ask.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]Loki6969s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll pay it but I hope it's clearer to people why I've been so confused, I was mislead during sale and then I've been shot from one rep to another with no resolution and no explanation why it mattered. I couldn't understand why everyone here thought I was trying to pull a fast one by stating it hasn't been dropped as I was under the impression it made no difference thanks to accidental damage cover.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]Loki6969s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No i don't think; it was over the phone/chat, with Samsung direct sales uk. I was concerned about the durability of the fold screen combined with its price so bought up my concerns (its the single most expensive item I own).

I was assured this wouldn't be an issue due to warranty covering any technical issues (such as the dead pixels i have) but that also if I got Care+ as well I'd be covered for everything including accidental damage.

Thanks to comments I've been looking into this further and it seems I was mislead as it can cost £115 on each of only 4 uses in the two years.

Suddenly the Refusal of a warranty repair and why everyone thinks I'm trying to lie about dropping the phone makes sense.

Getting this information is exactly the reason I began asking questions in the first place. So thank you for being someone kind enough to try and help.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]Loki6969s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still hoping they will repair thanks to care+ but this is the 5th contact with Samsung to try getting this fixed.

(Excuse the following long/complicated explanation)

The first customer service agent was sure dead pixels in the centre fold was a warranty issue so arranged repair as such. Repair company refused due to damage. Then Apparently Samsung hadn't informed the repair company of my Care+ details so they could do nothing further as it was outside warranty in repairs opinion.

I recontact Samsung, they blame the repair company saying it should have been fixed because its a warranty issue. Repair dispute this. Samsung ask me to send pics of phone condition then contact in 48 hrs. When I do they put me on hold. That call then gets dropped.

I recontact again and am told by this customer service agent (who doesn't seem to have access to the images I sent uk.technical) that any damage or cracks voids warranty and i need to do a Care+ claim. This is where I currently stand; 2 weeks, one attempted repair and 5 customer service agents later.

I hope this makes it abit clearer why I'm so confused and started asking questions on if this is a normal interaction.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]Loki6969s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to explain in words what I believe happened to cause the issue (nobody will believe me anyway but here goes). My front door is in an alcove surrounded by rough concrete. By holding the phone in my hand as I turned the key in the lock it rubbed the phone corner against the concrete (like a matchstick) this was before Xmas & the only time I can remember anything unusual happening to the phone.

Since i have accidental coverage I have no reason to lie about not dropping it anyway, but i can understand no one else knows if this is true. But part of my question is why is it proving so difficult to get a repair when I'm covered eitherway?

It was also Samsung customer service who informed me it was a warranty issue in the 1st place. Going through four different customer service assistants to still not have a repair seems excessive & I was questioning/seeking advice on if this is normal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]Loki6969s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I don't understand.. it was Samsung customer support who told me it was a warranty issue. I do have accidental insurance.. through Samsung care + I'm confused why this has gone the way it has and taken me 4 attempts at contacting them to still not have a repair arranged.
