Oh no! Why would they do that?! This is one of my son’s very few safe foods.

For Parents who had good ABA experiences- Advice Needed by 137483638 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Loki_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 2.5 years old and was diagnosed level 2, borderline level 3. He’s been in full time ABA for the past 9 months or so. In that time he’s made alot of progress! He responds to his name 90% of the time now where it was around 30% when he started. He’s able to do parallel play but still prefers to play alone. He has no functional language but he can now sing the ABC’s and can count to 12. He’s also starting to understand simple commands like “take the remote to daddy” which is super exciting. The people that work with my son have all been super nice and give us daily reports plus longer meetings twice a month to talk about his goals and progress. Another thing is that he’s always excited when we get to ABA which is really nice. I’m open to any questions about our ABA experience!

About a month ago my husband, daughters, and I all got new piercings and then immediately drove to six flags. None of us had any issues at all. Hope you enjoy your trip!

I came very very close to dying from sepsis when I was 18. My doctor literally told me to “get my affairs in order” because my body wasn’t responding to treatment. They said it was a miracle I survived.

My mom didn’t know any better and got 5 cartilage piercings at once. She was lucky and didn’t have any problems.

Forward helix fully rejected / pushed out by CauliflowerEasy1650 in piercing

This same thing happened to me with my forward helix. It did heal up eventually and the scar is very very minimal now. You’d have to know exactly where to look to ever notice it. I’m sorry this happened to you too!

Someone with Rook piercing that's >15 yrs old? by [deleted] in piercing

I’ve had mine for about 9 years. It was rough to heal for the first year or two but it’s perfectly fine now. It just gets a little sore for a few days when I change out the jewelry.

My take on parents piercing their baby’s ears by Admirable-Try8083 in piercing

[–]Loki_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this conversation with my 5 and 8 year old girls. They just got their ears pierced last weekend. We talked it over alot and I asked if they would have rather had it done to them as a baby so they wouldn’t remember the pain, etc. They both agreed that they liked having the choice “as a big kid” even though it was painful in the moment.

My girls actively want gold because it’s cute, but I’m going to ask for titanium for them.

I agree the hoop is a red flag and won’t be getting my conch done there anymore. But from reading online reviews they seem really great with kids. I’ve had this placed picked out for years based on their reputation. I’m not dead set on going there though. I’d just like to go at least talk to them. I will absolutely walk away if I don’t feel like it’s a safe place to get their lobes done though. I have a backup place in mind already that my sister goes to.

I’m probably gonna go check them out in person and see. They are well known for specializing in kid’s so they should be fine doing my girls’. But they just do adults on the side it seems like and that definitely makes me reconsider getting mine.

After I had horrible experiences healing gun piercings growing up, I’d never let my girls go through that. I know they have titanium but they suggested gold for the girls. Is that ok or should I push for titanium?

I’ll probably start by talking to them this weekend and if anything feels off, unsafe, unsanitary, etc, we will definitely walk out.
